“I don’t see my work as abstract, but as hovering between references. My primary concern is creating unfixed forms that conjure references ranging from the intimacy of textiles to the monumentality of the built environment.” - Steph Gonzalez-Turner, in conversation with Steven Holl & Peter Halley Visit 'T' Space Sundays from 11-5 through July 28 to see Steph's incredible work in-person!

'T' Space is proud to announce that our exhibition "Rome and the Teacher: Astra Zarina" will open in Civita di Bagnoregio, Italy at the Palazzo Alemanni Exhibition Space tomorrow June 21! Civita is a place of deep significance for Astra, who devoted a large part of her life to study Rome, and preserve Civita di Bagnoregio. In 1981, she established "The Northwest Institute for Architecture and Urban Studies in Italy" now known as The Civita Institute. The story between Astra and Civita is the story of a great love. "Inside a large green-pink crater there was a village straight out of fairy tales, so small that it almost looked like a single castle. A peaceful and, apparently, unattainable castle. A glittering Morgana fairy in a land of wonders. The mirage was real."* Thank you so much to all our partners for making this iteration of the exhibition possible! @comunedibagnoregio @casacivita_official @civita_institute @arhiteksti On view June 21 – August 30, 2024. *Astra Zarina quote from the book "Civita Without Adjectives and Without Other Specifications" by Giovanni Attili.

Thank you @chronogram and @taliesinthomas for highlighting our exhibition PAINTING / SCULPTURE in their recent Summer Arts Preview! ‘T’ Space was in amazing company, featured alongside new exhibitions at Dia Beacon, Storm King, and the Hessel Museum of Art, among others. “‘T’ Space in Rhinebeck remains committed to a cross-pollination of interdisciplinary thinking about art, education, and the preservation of our natural environment [...] For this exhibition, Halley and Gonzalez-Turner are collaborating to create a dynamic dialogue between elements of painting, sculpture, and architecture.” We hope you'll come experience the work for yourself, and join us for open gallery hours every Sunday from 11 AM - 5 PM, through July 28th.

SMHF and @stevenhollarchitects staff recently completed training on how to maintain the Architectural Archive’s green roof, learning to identify and remove weeds and redistribute sedum cuttings to reestablish growth in patchy areas. Thanks to @sempergreen (who installed the high-tech green roof system in 2022) for teaching us, and allowing our team to appreciate the Archive building from a new vantagepoint! The Archive houses literature, art and architecture and records the passage of trends in contemporary design from 1977 to the present, including over 1,200 models, 20,000 watercolors, 4,500 books, furniture, and other original artwork. Come visit the Archive during open hours, every Sunday from 11AM - 5PM, or schedule a deep-dive guided tour through our website.

“The essential impulse of all of my installations is to respond to the architectural setting. The wall painting I’ve done for this installation is quite different from my other work. I wanted to respond to the simple materiality of the space and its woodland setting. The Day-Glo paint I typically use didn’t seem right. I’m interested in the way the planes of color on the wall either change or reinforce the logic of the architecture.” — Peter Halley, in conversation with Steven Holl Visit PAINTING / SCULPTURE this Sunday at ‘T’ Space from 11-5! On view through July 28, with open gallery hours every Sunday.

PAINTING / SCULPTURE by Peter Halley and Steph Gonzalez-Turner was featured in Hyperallergic in "10 Art Shows to See in Upstate New York This June" by @taliesinthomas "Gonzalez-Turner’s crowd of skinny, sophisticated sculptures between around three and seven feet tall are both figurative and architectural, contrasting with the lush colors of Halley’s ethereal works. The energy between Halley’s paintings and Gonzalez-Turner’s sculptures celebrates both their collaboration and the unique mission of ‘T’ Space." Link in bio to read the full exhibition round-up!

“When I was invited to exhibit at ‘T’ Space I was fascinated by the complexity of the architecture, specifically the play between symmetrical and asymmetrical elements… The essential impulse of all of my installations is to respond to the architectural setting. The wall painting I’ve done for this installation is quite different from my other work. I wanted to respond to the simple materiality of the space and its woodland setting.” – Peter Halley “I see Peter’s painting as a contour and expansion of the architecture and my work as a compression and distortion through fragmentated planes and elongated space... My primary concern is creating unfixed forms that conjure references ranging from the intimacy of textiles to the monumentality of the built environment.” – Steph Gonzalez-Turner ‘T’ Space launches the 2024 Synthesis of the Arts season with a collaboration between Peter Halley and Steph-Gonzelez Turner on view through July 28, 2024.
