The band’s debut album spanned throughout lead singer @florence ’s coming of age, which was from ages 18 to 23, during which she wrote most of its songs. As she put it in an interview, ‘Lungs’ was “very demonstrative of a journey” and “scrapbook through those years”.

It’s hard to imagine @dnce ’s “Cake by the Ocean” being anything but anything but the @riaa_awards 5X Platinum hit that it is, but @joejonas never expected the song to have the impact that it did while he was writing it. “We were writing it and thinking it was really fun, but I really didn’t think much of it,” Jonas said in an interview with The San Diego Union-Tribune. “Even with ‘Cake by the Ocean,’ it was wacky tune I thought wouldn’t translate to a lot of people. It’s been really encouraging to see it do so well.” 🎂🌊

🎶 ‘Cause I’m just a girl, oh, little old me... 🎀 Released as the lead single from their 1995 album ‘Tragic Kingdom,’ @nodoubt ’s “Just A Girl” became an impactful anthem for the band’s female fans in the 1990s. According to @americansongwriter , that while the song was, on the surface, about the relationship @gwenstefani had her parents, “it works so well because that can be seen as a metaphor for a male-dominated world. With that, she blew up convention and became someone crucial for the culture.” The song has since been certified 2x Platinum by @riaa_awards , not bad for “just a girl” and her band.

The smash hit from @fareastmovement is trending just in time for summer! In an interview with @seventeen , singer Dev relayed the story of the song’s creation stating that “The Cataracs and Far East Movement had a studio session together. They were all in the studio together and The Cataracs made the beat and they were like, ‘You know, we think that Dev’s bridge for her song “Booty Bounce” would sound really cool, as a hook for this song.’ They played around with it for a while, and then called me to ask if I was into it. The beat was amazing so I was definitely in. There was no pressure though—it was just us doing our thing, vibing out, and it ended up being a little bit of a banger!”
