Researchers from the University of Waterloo are figuring out how to process raw materials on the moon to power lunar development and one day make it a viable home for humans.
“Our research is turning science fiction into reality,” says lead researcher Connor MacRobbie, a PhD candidate in the department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering. “Our goal is to help build the infrastructure and technology that will allow sustainable human settlement on the moon – and beyond.”

Today we marked the one-year anniversary of the Hagey Hall attack, a moment of hate-motivated violence that deeply impacted our community.
More than 150 campus members gathered inside the Hagey Hall Hub this afternoon, in solidarity and support of everyone who had to confront violence and experience trauma that day. While standing together, the community was standing up against gender-based violence and all forms of hatred and bigotry.

Launched in 2016, Engineering Day’s mission is simple: to give students a few hours off from classes to have some fun in the sun. Working with the Waterloo Engineering Society (@uwengsoc ), the official student council representing the student body, the Faculty organizes the event in July each year. Hundreds of students flock to line up for burgers, paint themselves purple and drop professors in the ‘dunk tank.’
