Lindsey White’s “Fantastico” show
@casemoregallery in SF is one of the best gallery shows I’ve seen anywhere since returning to the Bay Area two years ago. My dear friend, wonderfully gifted writer, and community forger
@antonstuebner captures the show with the same exquisite tenderness and love I felt in this work:
“Fantastico was a party supply store South of Market that more than lived up to its name: a maze of wonder and weird shit around every corner.
Lindsey’s brilliant and exquisitely realized show is a tribute to those beautifully weird spaces that we’ve loved and lost, like Fantastico and SFAI, where we learn to face the strange, embrace the absurd, and dream up new possibilities for ourselves and others. The show is an elegy, but its also a celebration of those legacies, and what happens when we come together and honor the ineffable power of that togetherness.”
The little dog tchotchkes throughout the show—which Lindsey refers to her as her Greek chorus, absolutely slayed me. I love a good tchotchke but to realize she has rendered them in resin and wood and asked a sign painter friend to paint the inscriptions. So much love, care, and tenderness in these works. Up through July 13 and then reopening through Aug after the Art Book Fair. Not to be missed!
