#WidewallsMagazine We Design Beirut is a labor of love, passion, and conviction. This was palpable in everything witnessed and experienced, as well as in every conversation held. It was as real as the people behind it—a small team of dedicated professionals who created an exceptional and meaningful event against all odds. Born from a vision fueled by hard work, hope, perseverance, and dedication, We Design Beirut (
@wedesignbeirut ) aimed to revive Lebanon and its design identity and demonstrate the immense creativity of Beirut.
"Creativity is the heartbeat of Beirut and it is our intention and aim to make sure it is brought back to life once again by reintroducing the world to Lebanon through our very own lens," said Mariana Wehbe (
@marianawehbepr ) in an exclusive Widewalls Interview.
When Mariana proposed the idea of We Design Beirut to Samer (
@sameralameen ), he enthusiastically embraced it right away, describing the suggested title of the event as a call to action. "At one time, design was about articulating form, function, materials, and meaning," Samer says, "but nowadays it's more about articulating systems, questions, issues and scenarios, as well as ways of enacting them."
