Born in Baltimore,
@hernameissukayna spent summers with family in Rabat, Morocco. Starting her artistic journey as a painter, she has discovered her true medium through glass, drawing inspiration from Art Nouveau and Moroccan art and architecture. Sukayna received her BFA in Craft and Material Studies (2019) from Virginia Commonwealth University and interned at the Chrysler Glass Studio and Starworks Glass Studio. She currently works at Hot Sand in Asbury Park, NJ as hot shop assistant manager. Sukayna was recently a resident artist at Pilchuck Glass School’s Better Together 2024 residency. In October, she will be going to Morocco to teach glass blowing where they have recently built the first educational center for glass in the country, L'institut des Arts Traditionnels de Meknes.
@a_glasstreasures is an emergent American multi-disciplinary artist, working primarily in glass. She earned her BFA in fine arts from New England College in 2015 and an Associate degree from Salem Community College in Scientific Glass Apparatus in 2018. During her time at school, she worked in the scientific industry at Glastron in Vineland NJ, and began blowing glass at Hot Sand NJ in 2016. In 2022, Ariel became the hot shop manager of Hot Sand as lead gaffer. Ariel is currently working on her own flame shop and glass lathe at her home studio to eventually launch her business as an independent artist.
