【UPCOMING】 📢 Kouichi Tabata + Hirofumi Isoya "To design the misalignment" June 28 – July 27, 2024 12:00-19:00 Closed on Sun, Mon and National Holidays Opening reception: 17:00-19:00, June 28 We are pleased to present "To design the misalignment," an exhibition of works by Kouichi Tabata and Isoya Hirofumi. Kouichi Tabata brings irregular elements to his paintings, chief among them misalignments in his surfaces and support structures, which open up various interpretations for the viewer. Hirofumi Isoya uses a wide variety of media such as sculpture, photography, and drawing to raise considerations surrounding the pathways of cognition. This exhibition, To design the misalignment, brings together Tabata’s paintings and Isoya’s framed photographs. Taking the sky as a thematic center, both artists conceived and composed the new work for this show by using Isoya’s photographs as a starting point, and then creating work which referenced the material approaches of the other. The viewer is invited into a tautological structure supported by the absence of the original. We are pleased to announce Yuko Mohri’s solo exhibition 'Compose’, curated by Sook-Kyung Lee, taking place at Japan Pavilion in Venice Biennale! Mohri exhibits two bodies of work that share the common element of water, filling the iconic space with sound, light, movement, and scent to create an environment that slowly and continuously changes. Don't miss this show! 三瓶玲奈の個展「光をたどる」は今週末の6月15日(土)までの開催です。10点以上の新作群が並ぶ本展は初めての書籍の刊行を記念して開催しています。是非お見逃しなく！ "Weaving with color", 2024 Oil on canvas 194x 324cm Reina Mikame "Following the Light" May 17 - June 15 12:00 - 19:00 Closed on Sun, Mon and National Holidays Born in 1992, and graduated from the Program in Master of Oil Painting Course, Department of Painting, Tokyo University of the Arts. Mikame’s paintings are created in a manner that appears to drift back and forth between opposite ends of the spectrum of the abstract and the objective. Familiar elements that exist within the artist’s surroundings, the artist’s experiences, and the various phenomena that emerge around the artist are conveyed through means of a harmonious balance between the paint and the brushstrokes. At a glance harnessing a precise air of brevity yet at the same time profoundly orchestrated, the works seemingly evolve into abstract portrayals, while in other moments embody a sense of objectivity. Mikame’s works illustrate forethoughts towards the consistent conditions of painting while simultaneously enticing the viewers with her very own unique world, anticipating the artist to further expand her future endeavors towards contemporary painting. 三瓶玲奈は1992年愛知県生まれ。現在は東京都を主に、国内では関東・中部地方などを拠点に活動。「知覚とイメージ」の関係性を追求する絵画表現に取り組んでいる。個々の体験や記憶に左右されないフラットで中立的なイメージの成立、およびそれらが深く感受されるための条件を考察し、植物、水の入ったコップ、あるいは木漏れ日など誰もが目にする日常のありふれた光景をモティーフに描く。線や色、あるいは光や温度といった諸要素についてのシリーズを展開するほか、近年ではベルクソンの「物質と記憶」などを参照した作品群を制作。三瓶の作品は、高い抽象性を帯びながら、湿度や温度、手触りといった触感を喚起する特徴があり、どこか温かく、親しみを感じさせる。 *会期中に一部展示作品の入れ替えを行いました。 Contact: info@yutakakikutakegallery.com #reinamikame
