A few weeks ago, we lost power during a storm. We live down in a valley where there isn't any cellphone reception. So no wifi means no phones. Nothing zaps you back to Laura Ingells Wilder days faster 😆 Don't get me wrong, I love Laura, Mary, baby Carrie, and their good ol' bull dog Jack. It is such a weird feeling to have that connection to a device. If it doesn't work, no one can reach you, and you can't connect to the outside world unless you "go to town." And before you ask about a home phone, we have one in the office, but it also runs through the fiber internet, so no bueno. Would you feel weird without your phone?
I both love and hate what cellphones have done to our society. I say that as I struggle to put mine away since I use it for everything. But I love when we go camping and the phones don’t work and you remember life without phones. Living in the moment, present with the ones you are sitting by and enjoying the moment with nothing to distract your attention from just being.
