Max has been playing on the Oxford scene since he was 15 in 2018 and we love him very much! He’s releasing his debut album False Comforts via Beanie Tapes on 21 June 2024 and we’re excited for you all to hear it.⠀ ⠀ FRIDAY 28th - The Goose is Out presents… Martin Simpson⠀ The Goose is Out is back with another corker of a show. A new era has begun at The Ivy House. After many years of running a trusty old analogue sound desk, we've taken the plunge and blasted off into the future and got ourselves a brand spanking new Midas digital unit! Part of an ongoing project to improve and refine the events offering here, we want people using our stage to feel good and sound good for many years to come, and this is just the beginning... Turns out, an old dog can learn some new tricks 💪

Bring your instruments and your spirit, for an open floor trad jam lead by Bonnie Blue Trad, every 3rd Monday of the month. Trad and folk adjacent, free entry to play and watch! 🎻 TUESDAY 18TH - NEW LANDS #5 : YUKE, BASTIEN, KOMBU NORI Rock and roll goodness in the heart of Nunhead, all for a fiver. This time featuring super cool rockers Yuke alongside Bastien and Kombu Nori. Doors 7:30pm, advance tickets are £5 (+ bf). 🤗 WEDNESDAY 19TH - THE IVY HOUSE WEEKLY PUB QUIZ This week we have quizmaster Sam back on the stage and he is ready to ask you bizarre questions once again, if you know you know. 8pm £2.50 per player. 💯 THURSDAY 20TH - THE EMBERS, FOLK, ROOTS & AMERICANA The Embers are a five-piece folk and roots band, bringing together the story-telling tradition of British folk music with the soul of Americana and a bluegrass swing. Performing regularly in London, and at a host of festivals and venues across the UK, they bring sorrowful harmonies, driving rhythms and break-neck fiddle to keep you dancing and sobbing into the night in equal measure. 🧡 FRIDAY 21ST - LURID TRAVERSAL #1 WHAT WAS WOUND An evening of emo-punk with Ritual Error, Tethered and Achers On 21 June, we're rolling back the clock with three bands who play relentless post-hardcore that calls to mind late 80's emo/post-hardcore! 🤘 Going to be epic, awesome and ... really nice. A very special one coming up next month! Returning again for what's slowly becoming an annual treat for us, poet Luke Wright and cartoonist and writer Martin Rowson return to our stage for another evening of poetry, musings, and vaguely erudite wittering. Aside from their excellent word-smithery, the pair always pack a few surprises in their pockets. I believe we still have the painting made from various condiments somewhere in the archive. Joining them is special guest William Wyld, a carpenter, painter & poet from South London. Tickets in our bio/WeGotTickets, nearly half are gone already and we suspect the rest won't last long...

It's about that time... time for some good old fashioned footy! Oh yes, the Euros are almost here and we can't wait to get stuck in with you all. Info on bookings and games below... So. The plan is that we'll be showing every England game in both the Ballroom and Refectory (unless otherwise stated), with tables available to book via our website on a first come, first served basis. We'll always have the front bar kept as a walk-in space, but do bear in mind that visibility is limited! The first three England games are up for bookings now, and we'll be opening bookings for latter games once we know where the chips fall and when games will be taking place. Outside of that, we'll have the telly on in the back room showing all the games we can for anyone who wants to watch the equally mighty Scotland compete in their first Euros tournament in a good ol' while. Doors 7:30pm, Music starts 8pm FRIDAY 31st - The Goose Is Out presents… Thomas McCarthy Irish Traveller, Singer, Storyteller, Thomas McCarthy comes from Birr in County Offaly in Ireland. He comes from a long line of old traditional singers and musicians who kept the tradition of singing strong. He was named the Traditional Singer of the Year in the Gradam Ceoil Awards 2019. What a gorgeous week we have ahead, we can't wait to share the good times with you all!
