I am delighted to invite you to teach me as part of my performance, “Impress/ion” at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago on July 6 from 12 pm to 3 pm. About the Event: Cripping the Galleries is hosted by the Museum of Contemporary Art in close collaboration with Bodies of Work: A Network of Disability Art and Culture. It is a series of live public programs featuring local artists activating museums through the lens of crip culture, access, and belonging. I will be performing for this edition of Cripping the Galleries. During my performance, I invite audience members to sit with me, three at a time, as I ask each audience member to “teach me” their individual first names. Depending on vision and vibrations perceivable through touch, participants can expect to spend a total of four minutes each until the group reaches a consensus on each learned name. The performance lasts three hours, until I am depleted of energy. Please note: While this is a participatory performance, audience members can choose to engage with it or remain viewers. I am deeply grateful to Pia Singh for her encouragement and support. @pia_singh9 Thank you for always supporting me - Carrie Sandahl Sandy Guttman @salad_valet Daniel Atkinson Haruhi Kobayashi, Rafael Loza, Bonita Kaze (Aline) Matthew Test Hannah Lau Carrie Sandahl Joy Young Sam Clapp Spike Bahermez @uicahs @uic.dcc @mcachicago @3artschicago @emami_art @sahuushmita @saicpics @saicprint @richa.agarwal09 #deafcommunity #deafartist More details on the link in my bio!

[Tender buttons, and another] Bellyache is the second iteration, rather an extension, of the originally executed [Tender buttons, and a] Bellyache, where the exhibition hopes to provide a contemporary understanding of womanhood through art that reflects personal narratives, sociocultural encounters, and overheard histories. The exhibition strays away from the vicious circle of societal formations, keeping in mind underlying South Asian traditions and currents of suppression. When it is said to ‘stop bellyaching’ they mean, to cease complaining about something that seems unreasonable or unjustified. Actions, intentions, words, and dilemmas are deliberately caged, buried beneath layers of sediments. They turn to secrets, veils, and endless pits of rubble that turn heavy. Feebly stitched buttons of a garment, when forced to expand beyond capacity will unfasten, or even break to being unruly.  The gut feels full, then again, there is a bellyache — an ache to reveal, an ache to set free, an ache to unravel the hidden bits that make the very foundation of (a) being. I’m thrilled to be a part of this exhibition, but unfortunately, I won’t be able to attend the opening. However, my work will be there, representing my perspective and artistic voice. I hope you can experience it for me and share your thoughts! Join us for the opening of our upcoming temporary exhibition, curated by Shristi Sainani (@shristi_sainani ).  🕕 6:00 pm 🗓️ 5 July’24 📍 Conflictorium Ahmedabad Artists: Mayuri Chari (@mayuri_chari ) Biraaj Dodiya (@biraajdodiya ) Sewali Deka (@xe_wali ) Guerilla Girls (@guerrillagirls ) Piyali Ghosh (@piyalighosh.11 ) Janhavi Khemka (@janhavi_khemka ) Shakuntala Kulkarni (@shakuntala.kulkarni ) Rachel Libeskind (@rachellibeskind ) Aravani Art Project (@aravaniartproject ) Aban Raza (@abanraza ) Julie Rrap (@julierrap ) Shrimanti Saha (@shrimantisaha ) Manjari Sharma (@manjee ) Ayesha Singh (@ayeshaxsingh ) Urna Sinha (@flyingorgans ) Zahra Yazdani This exhibition will be on display until the 6th of August’24. Thrilled to announce that my solo show, “Resonances,” is opening at RIT/NTID’s Dyer Arts Center! It’s been an incredible experience collaborating with deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing individuals. A 5-year dream finally come true! I’m deeply grateful to Fran @fcflaherty , Reilly, and Arianna for their help with installation and their patience with my visa issues and late arrival. Their support means everything to me. Thanks also to Pia @pia_singh9 for the show’s title and artist statement - they’re a hit! Please come at Dyer Arts Central from June 14 to September 20, 2024. I’m delighted to invite you to my dear friend Thương’s solo show at NEIU! She holds a special place in my life. We share countless memories, from enjoying food and dressing up to makeup sessions and parties, all within the comfort of our home. Thương has been a constant source of comfort and support, treating me like family. Her presence has made my life in Chicago truly special. I’m saddened that I won’t be able to attend her opening day show, as I’ll be traveling to Rochester for my own solo show. Please visit her exhibition - it would mean a lot to me! Congratulations, Thương ! ❤️ @cupcakes @maddiemay.studio @neiu_fineartscentergallery

I didn’t realize that my mother was always there with me because she taught me how to speak, how to cook, how to read, how to write, how to clean, how to walk, how to be strong, and how to help with everything. She loved me, fed me, went shopping with me, and talked about life. After she passed away, I thought I had to manage everything alone forever. But there are lovely people like my mother, support me, love me, care for me, make me happy, feed me, and more. I am so lucky to have Bharat @khemkabharat Shatrughan @shatrughankhemka Papa @mohankhemka2 Mridula mam @aakritinautiyal Alok sir, Ushmita Mam @sahuushmita and Pia @pia_singh9 . Thank you from the bottom of my heart. “Happy Mother’s Day”

I am happy to share something that I couldn’t come to RISD for the printmaking conference SGCI @sgcinternational due to family issues and visa status. However, Johanna and Terry tried to arrange for me to give my presentation at their playback panel through my recorded video. I am so thankful to @unruffian and @terryjamesconrad ❤️ Kaleena Stasiak, Ali Norman & Catherine Clements also managed to get my print from me in India for the “By the Pricking of My Thumbs” portfolio. I am so thankful to @kaleenastasiak , @alinormanprints and @c_clemgram ❤️ I am so glad that they did this for me. I wish I could have been able to see you all in person, but hopefully, I will in the future. Thank you @alqawi.nanavati for lovely picture and thank you @carl.voss.art for letting me know about the presentation ❤️❤️ love you guys With love @emami_art @saicprint @sgcinternational #playback #woodcutprint @agmckenz @nicksatinover @thismustbedana

Playback Panel Co- led by Johanna Winter and Terry Conard at SGCI in Providence, RI. I wish I could be there to give the presentation in person, but luckily Johanna and Terry managed to record the video of me, which they will show in person. Please visit our Playback Panel on the 5th floor, Room 551B at the Rhode Island Convention Center on Friday, April 5th at 1:30 pm. There will be amazing artists featured, including Dana Potter, Alex McKenzie, and Nick Satinover. Playback will engage artists working across disciplines in print and sound to consider how looping audio, image, and action expand upon the iterative and collaborative nature of printmaking. Video credit by – Janhavi Khemka Please visit and have Fun :) @unruffian @terryjamesconrad @sgcinternational @emami_art @thismustbedana @agmckenz @nicksatinover @saicprint @saicpics #printmaking #woodcut #animation @risd1877
