My mom and my grandma. 💖 Happy mother's day to all the people who have or had kids. Here or gone, your own, adopted, married into, furry, feathery, scaly and everything in between. You're awesome. 🌻

I went away for a bit. It should've been a week, however, neither of my dogs were doing particularly well without the other, so I cut the trip short. It was actually a pretty good excuse, since I realized that I absolutely hate being involuntarily isolated from people. I like knowing that I constantly have people I can go talk to. I like gas stoves. I like having a sink close to the toilet. I like my own space and my own peace. But I cannot, for the life of me, be isolated from all of the people I love. It's good to be home. It's good to have my dogs be back to normal. Next time, I'm taking my mom with me.

April 2024 - Taking care of myself the way I expect others to take care of themselves. 1 through 4 - Pre and post surgery to remove an endometrioma 5 - my dog was happy to have me back 6 - my colleagues sent me a lovely bunch of hayfever 7 - a recent selfie 8 - a summary I'm well aware that there's still a few days left of April, however, I'm going on a little solo trip next week and disconnecting from socials while I'm away. I hope you have a lovely day. I'll see you soon 🌻💖

Good evening. I'm gonna be completely honest, I genuinely doubted if I would be able finish this book by the end of the month. Things have been busy and I haven't been finding much joy in reading this month as I have in other things.  This month I read "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" by Stephen Covey.  Here is what I've learned from this book: *Your attitude determines how people respond. *"To make an emotional deposit, what is important to another person must be as important to you as the other person is to you *One of the most important ways to manifest integrity is to be loyal to those who are not present. In doing so, we build the trust of those who are present. When you defend those who are absent, you retain the trust of those present *Remember, frustration is a function of our expectations, and our expectations are often a reflection of the social mirror rather than our own values and priorities.  *You can't talk your way out of problems you behave yourself into. *We are each responsible for our own lives. *You need to find time to rest. *Figure out what your fundamental principles are. Once you have a clear idea of that, let them guide your decisions and let who you are as a person reflect that. *Seek first to understand, then to be understood.  *Value others differences. *This is the single most powerful investment we can ever make in life -- investment in ourselves, in the only instrument we have with which to deal with life and to contribute. Although I already knew a lot of the information that I read in this book, it was a good reminder to have. I feel like this would definitely be a book that you would read every two or so years as a gentle reminder of how efficient you can be and how much more you can accomplish with a win-win and empathetic mindset. On to the next one.

What a wild month this has been so far. You know how I set myself a goal of reading a self help book every month to keep growing? I sincerely thought that I would not be making it this month. It's the 20th of the month and I'm only quarter of the way through my current book. I've managed to get just a little less than halfway today, so there might be hope. I might still be able to finish the book this week. 🤞 Side note, I got fake flowers and now my side table in my office looks so pretty 🌻
