We’re incredibly grateful for the opportunity to participate for the first time in
@decorexafrica , where we and our partners showcased how design can make an impact beyond private spaces but also how we can fund and sustain them.
A special thank you to
@biellebellingham , Decorex Africa’s Creative Director, for believing in us and providing this platform. Our “Empower” exhibition in partnership with
@utt_empower and
@blokliving brought together our many partners from Safer Streets,
@sdi.supplier , Safe Passage Programme, Start Somewhere, SA Bollards, Cape Concrete,
@rookcycles ,
@activeforumcpt , Stonecast,
@greenriders.africa , and our personal favourite, SA’s first modular parklet that was developed with
@flatrockstudioza .
This collaboration highlighted the importance of working together to create meaningful change. Decorex allowed us to communicate to a broader audience that design can be impactful, inclusive, and just. For us it was about demonstrating that we can indeed make cities for people, not cars and high walls.
On top of that, we were privileged to have the Urban Design & Mobility Forum there in partnership with Mayor of Cape Town
@geordin.hill.lewis and
@robquintas from the City of Cape Town and
@ricardomackenzi in the audience. Here we fostered new solutions and relationships to influence urban mobility and highlighted the role of public and private partnership along side collaborations.
We will post the full recording very soon. Thank you to everyone who visited our talk, exhibition and events. We appreciate your comments, support, and critiques. For any new ideas or collaborations, please reach out to us.
