TONE!!! Tone is everything, the eternal chase, and right now I have landed in a great place!! Between upgrading to the Celestion Alinco Blue in the Vox AC-15, and playing around with a bunch of different strings and gauges. On my replica ‘58 I combined a the low E and wound G of the 13 guage with the 12 gauge to match the old Sonomatic sound of Lennon’s ‘58. Then on my ‘63 I used 11/50 flat wounds to match the strings Lennon’s was acquired with. Both sets sound amazing and match that vintage tone! Pyramid strings are absolutely amazing in quality, tone and performance. Squier Bass VI. Well it took a couple weeks, but all the parts came in and the mods are done🥵. Not much Squier left honestly. Replaced the pickups (hot 60’s), switches and wiring. Replaced the tuners,tremolo, and bridge, both with Fender vintage spec parts. Also added the Fender Mute and bridge cover (watched enough Get Back to see them installed). The stock tuners were junk and replaced with vintage Kluson’s. I tinted the fretboard and finally added some La Bella VI strings. Vintage look vibes!!😍 Gave the player a retro treatment, tinted the fretboard, added pickup covers, red tortoise pickguard, vintage bridge and La Bella flatwound strings to nail those raunchy white album bass lines.
