RIOTNINE - The Cactus Club - Milwaukee, Wisconsin 2 May 2024 @x_riotnine_x One of the most important shows I’ve been to in my life so far. I’ve sat on these photos for a while now but was too busy with other things that were going on to share them. I really wanted to share them now because it’s been so long and for them to be a little reminder to myself for how good things can be. Getting to see a glimpse at the community that Riotnine help build after two years of being a band was like nothing else. For the whole night, the moment the music started from the first band people were moving, people were participating and sharing the space together. It was honestly beautiful, you could tell everyone really cared about the music and being able to be there. It all built to Riotnine’s set, playing to a room packed with people circled around them, screaming the words as loud as they all can in between tears being shed. Then going completely silent to hear the last words the band had to sing. Some of the pure bitter-sweet moments I’ve seen, a true celebration of the band and the scene they were in and the music they made. Sometimes a music scene can change people for the better, or the way we do things or build a community that is filled with nothing but support for each other. And Riotnine proved that. Screamo vacation // Courtesy tour is over Over the past week I met two incredible friends from Canada @ghc.champ and @muppetsfromspace , played the last RIOTNINE show, went to the always incredible ZBR fest, and embarked on a 5 day tour with the first leg supporting my darlings in @thebrieflygorgeous and @bballdivorce . I’m still so sad we only had 3 days together 😭♥️. It’s an understatement to say that this has been the best week of my life. To be at a show with great bands and dear friends every night for a week is something I’m going to miss deeply until the next one. I want to thank @mikeholloway and @damnlazy_ for giving our band the support and opportunities that have helped us get to where we are, it is endlessly appreciated!!! Honored to be playing with Garden Home as much as we do 🫡♥️ and wherever you are, thank you Thax Douglass for your poetry! Thank you @katytothekelly for letting me help out on the booking process, it was super fun to see these plans come to fruition!!! Thank you to anyone who came out to support us, this was a very special set of shows and I’m excited to keep pushing our creativity further. Lastly, I want to give some words on the event that started this week off. Simply put, there will never be another band like riotnine. No other act has so effectively captured the attention and spirit of young radical trans people and screamo heads alike in Milwaukee or even anywhere else than this band. Living with Cleo and watching every move this unit made, every decision in rehearsal, every screen print and merch decision, nearly every single moving part was assembled in this house and has been such a wealth of inspiration to me on how to do cool shit and do it right. I’m going to miss this band dearly 💔 2nd to last slide contains my first mosh induced nose bleed that I sustained during @worldihatemke at cactus club and it couldn’t have been a better night and band for it. I love my boys in @courtesy_official and I can’t wait to run this shit back 😈
