And that's a wrap on Totally Outright 2024! We were sad to say goodbye to this amazing group of queer health leaders, but we are so grateful for their time, energy, and thoughtfulness. The week of Totally Outright was a blast, with lots of discussions, talks, and time spent making amazing Zines exploring queer health topics. We also want to send out a big thank you to all of the session facilitators, and our onsite managers, who were key in making this week happen. If you missed this year's Totally Outright keep an eye out for next year's Totally Trans Outright, and our next iteration for queer folks who identify as men coming up in 2026. Image Description: This image has a blue background with yellow shapes and navy blue wavy lines. In the center is a photo of the Totally Outright participants, onsite managers, and program facilitator/coordinators. On the top right is white text saying 'thank you' and on the bottom left is a white shape with the Totally Outright logo on it. Blue and yellow text saying 'Totally Outright' with a blue and yellow star.

Day of Queer Joy is this Friday, so let's go over the coming events! Keep in mind if you would like to sign the petition to remove the name change fee for Trans, Two-Spirt, Non-Binary and Intersex people in Nova Scotia, you can do so at any of these events. 1. Day of Queer Joy Flag Raising Kick off the Day of Queer Joy by joining us for a flag-raising ceremony to commemorate the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT). We will proudly raise the progress pride flag and hear from local queer leaders at 12 PM in the Province House courtyard. Let’s centre Queer Joy, to fight Queer hate! The site is wheelchair-accessible, and all are welcome to attend. Announcing the Day of Queer Joy - Living Library! The Living Library will be from 3 to 5 PM on this Friday at the Halifax Central Library. There will be an ASL interpreter available. Weather permitting, it will take place outside on the rear plaza, if not, it will be held in the Paul O'Regan Hall. There will be a variety of tables set up with queer folks and organizations sharing their experiences in activism, navigating health structures, queer culture, current societal situations, and more. This event is for all ages, but some speaker's specializations are defiantly more heavy than others. 3. Spring Fling, dry dance & queer talent showcase This exciting event will take place on May 17th, from 7-10 PM, at the Halifax Central Library in the Paul O'Regan Hall. The first hour will feature a free show with drag performances, poetry readings, live music, and more, hosted by the fabulous Anna Monapia. After that, we'll transition to a dry dance with music by the talented DJ AmbieNsound. Complimentary snacks, sweets, mocktails, sodas, and alcohol-free beers (courtesy of Garrison Brewing Company) will be available throughout the evening. Join us for this all-ages celebration of queer joy and pride! ACNS recognizes the financial support of the Government of Nova Scotia in our “Day of Queer Joy” activities. Nova Scotians are facing many challenges in these extraordinary times. We are pleased to work in partnership with the province to support Queer communities.
