It's time to start the week on a ✨positive note!✨ Theatre SMRT by Commonwealth Artists Student Theatre is a hands on co-op partnering students with extensive knowledge in technical theatre with students who are looking to grow their technical skills. 🎭 The students at the participating schools, which have emerging theatre programs, gain autonomy over their work and contributions to their schools' productions. This program, made possible by a Catalyzing Impact grant from ArtsWave, served over 135 students and is a testament to the arts and how they fuel creativity and learning! #CincyArts #mondaypositivity @castnky

"Mother's Tongue" is a project from Emily Hanako Momohara that intertwines her origins through traditional Japanese characters juxtaposed with contemporary American landscapes, illuminating a diasporic middle ground. #TBT to July 2023! Through their MOVE initiative, Pones collaborated with independent BIPOC artists, including local artist Michael Coppage. Their combined work, titled "Rainbow Box," communicated the stories of 7 Black LGBTQIA+ individuals. Performances set to interview audio were filmed at The Carnegie, and large photographic displays could be viewed at Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati, Know Theatre of Cincinnati, and even the American University of Paris! 🌈 What an incredible way to wrap up our look back at ArtsWave #Pride Grant projects over the years! #CincyArts @ponesinc @michael_coppage @thecarnegie @ensemblecincy @knowtheatre

"Rooted in the Land," a multidisciplinary project from Noel Maghathe in collaboration with @firelab , is an intricate blend of live performance and sculptural art that narrates the Palestinian diasporic experience. Let's start this Monday morning on a ✨positive note!✨ Last year, Music on Court used ArtsWave's Catalyzing Impact grant to provide 150 youth with outdoor music lessons. Participants were able to learn the keyboard and, by doing so, access the world of music in ways they had never been able to before. Each student was given a keyboard to keep for continued learning. The project used the arts to fuel creativity and learning among kids with diverse backgrounds. 🎹 #CincyArts musiconcourt

"Rooted In Love: The Recultivation of Lincoln Heights - A Historic Black Community" is a documentary by Alicia Redmond that captures the glory, challenges, and resilience of one of America's historic Black communities. 🤩 Through intimate interviews, archival footage, and personal reflections, the film aims to highlight one man’s unwavering spirit, the community he loves, and the collective efforts of its residents to reclaim and revitalize their heritage. Our arts continue to put Cincinnati on the map! 😍 Congratulations to Viva Voices Choral Organization, the only Tri-State choral group invited to sing at the International Choral Festival in Paris this summer! A group of 55 youth and adult singers will represent the region in mid-July, and this year's event will commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day through song. #CincyArts #cincyonthemap @viva.voices
