as pride month ends, i wanted to share my inclusion in the latest issue of @foglifterpress , a queer san francisco-based publication which i have long admired. gratefully, my little hybrid piece is now in print there. thank you, foglifter, for homing my work. this beautiful journal is full of deeply affecting work by queer literary artists whose work i am fortunate to meet in these pages. the cover art, which i love, is “fallen trans angel” by suzanne m. shifflett.

august sneaks up on me. among many things, it is the month that preludes my birth month and i am usually in the midst of some transition — existing more offline than on, processing some new loss, touching a distant part of earth.
there was that august that @silhsa and i went to mexico city for the first time. there was that august that a painter i met while seeing las pinturas negras gave me a print of a donkey because i harped on what passionate creatures they are. there was that august i met up with @atelierproduzioni in mallorca and he drove us across that whole beautiful island and we ate so many oranges. there was the one i was stuck in berlin, the one i was heartbroken in colombia, the ones in ny believing in love again and again, the ones i ate fruit alone in the sunlight.
this is a fresh august of holding pain and bliss that alter my heart in new ways. i don’t have answers to most things —just patterns that reveal themselves over time. i’m so hurt and so ready to continue along the paths that have been widened for me. i’m ready to keep widening the path for those yet to come. i’m going back to emoji captions after this.
here are some moments from the past week or so. ask me about mushrooms, hummingbirds, hedonism, ackee, or why i thought i was going to jamaican jail. i thank the water for continuing to hold me. i thank the earth for continuing to feed me. i thank people who share love with me, in ways big and small, for continuing to share love with me. i have surprised myself many times this year in ways that i’m not proud of. i am humbled to wake up every day to new pathways toward grace.

glide that ass in a circle ❄️✨ a few weeks ago when these were recorded, i celebrated 8 weeks of ice skating lessons! my goal was to learn to do one jump and hold any spin for a couple of revolutions. i’m happy to report feeling like a baby tornado in my two-foot spins and hopping a quarter inch off the ice in my waltz jumps. i genuinely love being a beginner while five-year-olds do triple axels around me —they are my heroes! catch me on the ice!
