Yesterday, under the bright mid-day sun, Maria Schumann led our puppeteers in learning simple circle dances and beautiful Lithuanian folk tunes, in revery of the sun, the pine trees, the nettles, the crickets the stones and all our elders.
Come join us tomorrow, Friday June 21 at 7pm, for a communal ritual performance. Learn songs and dances as the sun sets over the pageant field and the pink moon rises, don Lion and lamb puppets, and bask in the magic of the solstice!

Gaza Grey Lady Cantata will be performed after every Saturday circus July 13th through August 31st
In the late 60's through the mid 1970's, Peter Schumann created a series of shows in response to the Vietnam war called "The Grey Lady Cantatas". The shows featured the iconic grey lady life puppets moving through vignettes both
dreamlike and brutal. This new version was created and co-directed this spring by father-daughter team Peter and Maria Schumann. It uses texts from Palestinians living through the war in Gaza, and, like the older versions of the show, is a meditation on grief, war, and resistance.
Summer Solstice is coming!! This Friday June 21 from 7pm-dark, Join us for this
participatory ritual performance in the Bread and puppet field. Following ancient tradition, we will dance in circles imitating movements of celestial bodies and sing songs
venerating the sun. We will also sing to the grass, the crickets, the trees, and the stones; light fires; and wash our faces in the magical
solstice evening dew.
