leaving on Saturday for Vermont to apprentice at @breadandpuppet for three weeks! What a dream.
It’ll be a little hard to reach me when I’m there, thanks for your friendships, I’ll be holding them in love.
There have been some significant life/work/vocational changes over the past few months that have been too overwhelming to really talk about here, but I will say I am very glad to be “on the other side” and feeling parts of my soul return tenderly. I think these little snapshots capture some of that sweetness.
Last stew of the season of my first deer. Very grateful for the life of this creature, the nourishment it provided to many, my family, and being from the sweet land of Kentucky that makes my heart sing.

. "I Found You in the Rain / Shining in the Sky." This is 4 new pulsing and personal ambient songs in collaboration with my dear friend and former bandmate J. Brooks Rice based in Columbus, OH.
This project for us was an experiment in trust, long distance collaboration, and creating a space to process the unresolved. After our band dissolved suddenly sometime last year, we decided to move forward from the creative disappointment and stay connected by swapping files over the course of a year; guitar loops, field recordings, voice memos, photos and video clips, and scraps of songs.
This process of exchanging and arranging revealed how important trust and vulnerability is in a collaborative process, and illuminated our shared sense of beauty. These forgotten, fleeting, solitary moments, captured and stored only in the obscurity of the digital realm, became something breathing and new when we shared them with one another.

Lost/old files, loops, voice memos, field recordings from both of our digital dusty archives were traded over the internet over the past year and woven into 20ish minutes (4 tracks) of really beautiful, serendipitous, surprisingly personal music.

The Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols was first celebrated at King's College, Cambridge on Christmas Eve, 1918. Nine readings and musical meditations follow the lineage of the Christ story from the Garden of Eden, through the beckoning of the prophets, to the Incarnation, and on through the cosmos. This is the Noon Service version of this event, where Cathedral community and Cincinnati artists have been invited to reimagine the readings and hymns through their own artistic mediums to be performed and presented this joyous and collaborative evening.
