I tried to post this a week or so ago but it was taken down for “trademark infringement”. So I deleted all of my social media apps and logged out of everything in protest. but that protest fell on deaf ears and I missed a bunch of messages from folks so I’m back. And I’ll try this again.
A few years ago I started talking to the @seufguitars dudes about doing a trade. They were looking for a 100W *BRAND NAME REDACTED* Super Bass amp build and I was looking for an olympic white *BRAND NAME REDACTED* Jaguar guitar build. I am very happy we saw that idea to fruition because it not only got me one of my favorite guitars I’ve ever played, but it also lead me down the path of building one of my favorite builds to date. My lawyer** advised me not to say much more about the dealings of this trade so as not to disturb the overlords of the social-media-music-sphere, so I’ll just say thanks to the good folks of @ups for getting both of the instruments across the country in one piece and in a timely manner and thanks a million more times to Marq and Shaun for being the raddest.

Here’s a mediocre photo of an exceptional instrument. The dudes at @seufguitars knocked this one out of the park and I couldn’t be more impressed. The pickups are the perfect amount of mean and the neck feels like an old pal. I couldn’t more highly recommend a Seuf build for your next dream whip.
I love Musicman amps so much. A client of mine picked this one up on the cheap because it was a big unknown. The fuse holder cap and the fuse were missing. I gave it a deep bath, a full service, and put a new fuse holder in it. I brought it up slowly on the variac fully expecting the usual bad caps, etc. that come with old MM amps, but to my surprise this one was in pretty damn good shape. It sounds great too! It looked like someone had been in there and did a good job replacing the electrolytics, I’d guess they’re about ten years old. Those newish caps and the old Sylvania tubes in it all tested great, so this turned into an absolute steal of a purchase. Stress testing these is always fun, so loud for such a small package 🤡🥊

Big time life / shop update!
A few weeks ago I moved to Akron, Ohio to work for @earthquakerdev . I couldn’t be more excited to join such a badass company (check out the chorus pedal we just released today!)
The move went well, thanks to all of my friends that helped 🖤, the job feels like a very natural fit, and i’m loving all of the culinary options akron has to offer.
My amp shop is getting back up and running, but I’m not going to be accepting any new repairs or custom builds for the foreseeable future while I settle in and work through the log of repairs/builds I currently have on deck.
A big big thanks to everyone who trusted me with their ideas and gear over the last couple of years of self employment. It was some of the most rewarding, and also challenging, time I’ve had on this earth. It wouldn’t have been possible without this amazing music community.
I’ll still be back in athens frequently, gigging with @therealtoecutterband and visiting my friends that have become family. But, if you ever find yourself in northeast Ohio, hit me up!
If you try to put a guitar in my hands and make me play you something I will almost always say no. Unless you’re my Grandma Justine. She was the first person to put a guitar in my hands and start me down this path, and for that I will be forever grateful. ❤️
Happy New Year from me and my bench! I’d like to send my thanks and appreciation to everyone who trusted me with their busted gear, build ideas, and friendship in the year 2022. The music community (both players and repair people alike) is one of the most uplifting things i’ve ever been a part of.
One of my fourth quarter goals was to be less active on social media and more active in my tangible spaces. I joined a new band and I’ve been trying to make more art. I think it has greatly improved my world.

🧐 This model is offered at a slight discount! The cabinet is what we call “player grade”. It took a real bad knock on transit but has been glued and screwed back together (see photos). It’s probably stronger than it was originally, but definitely has a few blemishes.
