Slow Riser is a Chicago-based dark indie-pop project comprised of two longtime musical collaborators, Ian Young and Claire Watkins (Scout Ripley, Morning Arms). On their nocturnal-themed debut album, Midnight Talks, the duo explores the ways age, mental state, season, and location inform our ever-changing relationship with the night. Underpinning their lyrical vignettes is a tapestry of reverb-drenched guitars, soaring strings, ethereal synths, and downtempo beats. The result is an emotionally and sonically dynamic album that occupies the liminal space between genres.
Patrick Jasper is a Chicago based guitarist and songwriter. Drawing from his roots in folk, math-rock and experimental rock, his new project tumbles into new sonic territory while maintaining a down to earth musical sensibility. His recently released debut album "Loreto" knits together a wide pallet of textures and harmonies and draws on the technical facility of the band members jazz backgrounds.

Genital Shame, experimental black metal from Pittsburgh, PA is the one-person project of Erin Dawson. Veering from heavily distorted tremolo picked guitar and distant propulsive drums to gentle, bedroom pop ambience, Genital Shame is a queering of the sonic traditions and musical form of black metal. It is, in Dawson’s words, “an interrogation of how far you can get towards breaking those rules without it being something else.”

Imagine Lilith Fair with a distortion pedal and 20 years of economic instability; they stitch dark, wry lyrics into ethereal vocals, while their poppy instrumentals are tinged with Millennial grunge. The sound is decidedly '90s influenced alt rock loaded with harmonies, hooks, and the occasional Nashville-style nod to Americana.
Chicago outfit All Weather Sports designs a classic indie rock structure that flirts with the tones of surfgaze. Liz, Connor, Ruby and Sarai like to make music that revisits the gut-punch of adolescence and stumbles through the winding bike path of adulthood, performed in both singsong and scream. At the core of the All Weather Sports Band Ethos is an eagerness to move playfully through each season despite all tremors, whether new or reflective.
Genevieve Heyward delivers brutally honest lyrics with a saccharine rasp, effortlessly blending Americana influences into enthusiastic pop music. She's an accomplished writer and musician—adept at both piano and guitar—and her songs cut through the fray with raw emotion, relatable lyrics, and melodies that linger in the listener's ear. Live, Genevieve is quick to draw in her audience, engaging them with a combination of sass and sultriness.

Their single, "Jackal," gained attention, leading to performances at festivals and indie venues. Notable highlights include sharing stages with national touring acts such as The Greeting Committee, The Regrettes, The Velveteers, Colony House, and more. Nurse Julie is an instrumental chamber ensemble from the sprawl between Chicago and Milwaukee that subscribe to the ethics of punk rock, with a sound that lies somewhere within the realm of post-rock.
As a young man Roaming Bear made a name for himself by hitchhiking and hopping freight trains all across America and documenting the process; teaching other young people how to “travel for free.” His songs are heavily inspired by these hobo-escapades, the people he met along the way, and the eternal truths that can only be found while out on the road.
Average Joey is a full time traveling songwriter and musician, living perpetually on the road sharing his mix of storytelling folk songs, mischievous country tunes, danceable string band music, and punk rock banjo. When joined by the Rabble Rousers, Average Joey is able to bring these songs to life backed by fiddle, jazz guitar, and Tuba. A live performance of this group offers a cabaret style variety show, incorporating crowd participation singing, burlesque acts, and lyrically witty music that you can tap your toes to.
