We're excited to welcome 20 dynamic, accomplished filmmakers from Bangladesh, India, Mexico, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tunisia, Uganda, Ukraine, and Zimbabwe, as part of this year's #GlobalMediaMakers LA residency. Over the next few weeks, this creative cohort of Fellows is working on their in-development film/episodic projects with U.S. industry mentors, leading to lifelong connections. Global Media Makers (GMM) convenes international filmmakers with the U.S. entertainment industry to build a multi-regional network that supports creative economic development and freedom of expression through global storytelling. If you have a passion for cameras and gear, you'll understand the joy of visiting @panavisionofficial 😍🎥 That was truly an incredible experience. Witnessing the creation of top-notch lenses and equipment and the collaborative effort that goes into shaping cinematic history was truly remarkable. Unfortunately, we weren’t permitted to take photos in the working area, but trust me guys, it was an unforgettable moment for me. Wow.. I have a deep love and admiration for this craft and am eager to continue learning more about the art of cinematography. The entire process of crafting these exceptional lenses and equipment felt surreal to me. Thank you, @wllhlt and @filmindependent , for organising this visit. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity and enriching experiences through the Global Media Makers Fellowship. It still feels like a dream, our writing retreat in Colombo.🌴 10 diverse and extremely talented young writers from South Asia, mentored by celebrated American authors and poets. The 2024 cohort of The Queer Writers’ Room retrieved stories from their lives, danced with the possibilities of language, and dived into questions of faith, identity and belonging in a complex and ever changing world. A @stateivlp exchange focused on hip-hop and civic engagement brought international hip hop artists and educators, including some @next_level_usa alumni, from 22 countries to the U.S. last month. They met with Next Level Program coordinators and local hip hop community leaders, participated in an event at @nmadmuseum , and explored how hip-hop can promote positive social change globally as part of the Global #MusicDiplomacy Initiative. Revisiting some memories from #HelobungDanceTroupe’s #CenterStageUS tour from last year 💛✨ It’s been more than half a year at this point yet it all seems like yesterday. The Tbolis have such a beautiful, beautiful culture and I’m lucky to have seen it in action for a month while in the US. I’m sure everyone at the Filipino Community Center in Waipahu felt the same way. That workshop was really fun! 💃 To those in the Philippines and would love to discover Tboli culture themselves, remember that Lake Sebu is a short plane ride away. We were blown away by this video of 26 intertribal dancers and singers opening Jeffrey Gibson’s exhibition at the pavilion representing the U.S. in the 60th Venice Biennale! After a procession through the city, Native American Jingle Dress and Fancy Shawl dancers from Colorado and Oklahoma took to @jeffrune_ !!re!!_039;s sculpture, “The Space in Which to Place Me” to welcome visitors into the space. We're proud to be a partner on this project along with the @portlandartmuseum and @sitesantafe , bringing American arts and culture to international audiences.
