“You don’t look like the type of person to create something as beautiful as this!” is what someone “👱🏻‍♀️” told me at a recent Art Exhibition. Then went on to say that If I looked more “Proper” & gave less of a “Detroit Thuggish look” I would be accepted and find more success in the Art World. Maybe that person is right and maybe that person is wrong. All I know is im proud of my work and the reality of where I’m from. I won’t change or hide that for any reason. It’s always nice to be labeled as a “Great Photographer”, but I’ve always wanted to be labeled as a “Prominent Artist”. Having daily thoughts of if I was to die tomorrow or if my instagram were to be deleted today, what would I have to leave behind? I want to leave a Nobel trail behind my name for generations to come. This is my humble attempt in separating the Gap of me & and any other photographer within a million mile radius. This piece is of Detroits own, the immensely talented @thetrinityjoy . The Purpose behind my photography pieces is to give a “Timeless Feel”. When you look up at these photos I want people to not ask who or what but ask “When”. To see these pieces hung up in the “Opera del Duomo” in Italy & not question if these kids from Detroit belong there. I have had this vision in my mind for a while & am extremely proud to be able to bring this to life. I believe we both a a similar taste of “Sophisticated ignorance” by going outside of our professional fields traditional Norms and forcing it to adapt to us. I Always ran away from shooting women but if ima do it I wanna do it right & MY WAY. Im tired of seeing only “lingerie” & “Overly Sexualized“ shoots from “Models” & these “Photographers”. I was raised to see our women to be represented with respect and elegance. We are steering far away from that path. YOU DONT HAVE TO BE NAKED TO BE BEAUTIFUL. I’m here to create actual “Art” that can hold value and can’t be replicated. Im here to give people something they can appreciate outside of just social media. 2️⃣3️⃣ 🎉 Thank you Dearly to Everyone for the support over these few years! Proud of my accomplishments but I have a lot more to do. From being in the Atlantic Ocean Living on a Nuclear Submarine to traveling around the World with this Camera doing what I love. If I could sit down and talk to the 16 Year old Johnnie he wouldn’t BELIEVE where life went for us. My Irrational thoughts is slowly turning to some form Reality. 📸
