TBT 2014-19: Opening Day used to be one of my favorite times of year. Alas, no longer. 😭 After years of avoiding the “random theme show” like the plague, 199c became one of my favorite things ever, and resulted in some of my favorite work, as an annual check-in to what happened to me that year, and an artistic challenge to figure out how to apply baseball to that as a metaphor. It also had a way of becoming a lowkey class reunion for the multiple generations of designers I got to serve time with at NKU 💖. Sadly, these aren’t super well documented, as 199c was also an excuse for me to get thoroughly hammered. 😅
Coming Soon…
Cutman Barbershop, East Price Hill
For decades, @pricehillwill has tirelessly worked to bring Price Hill together and build into a neighborhood rich in both history and pride. The Warsaw Avenue Creative Campus is no longer just a plan on paper. It’s very much alive.
The efforts of those at PHW and others working in community development across our city often go unnoticed. That is extremely unfortunate. So much of what we take for granted in Cincinnati is the result of their hard work and resilience. So much has been made possible with little to no funding or other resources. So much opportunity for residents and small businesses has been created. So…thank you.
I also want to say thank you to Rachel and Ashley at PHW, Eric Denison and the @city_of_cincy , @mainstcincy , Shea Conly, Lucas and Diego at @theempanadasbox , and to all of the amazing makers and creatives who played a part in bringing our third shop to life. I sincerely hope I haven’t forgotten to include any of you on this post.
I also want to thank those barbers who have waited patiently for this project to come together. You could have walked away at any time, but you didn’t. I am forever grateful for that. It won’t be long now.
Finally, I want to say thank you to my wife and much better half, Samantha. This was never part of the plan, but you said yes when it would have been much easier to say no. You speak truth, you never stop me from sharing an idea, and you always have my back. You’ve loved and supported me through it all. I love you.
We can’t wait to open our doors to this community in the coming weeks. More details to follow.
God bless,
Jerod
