Couple of smaller (but super toneful) combos recently through the shop for repair and refurb: OG Fender Vibrochamp and newer, Tone King Gremlin.
Both in tip top shape and returned home.
Mid 60s, black panel Fender Vibro Champ receives some well overdue tlc today. New cap can, cathode bypass caps, few select resistors, servicing and some serious power section rehab post previous botched repairs got this lovey amp, sounding lovely again. Original tubes still testing strong 💪🏻

Beautiful mid-70s Hiwatt DR103AP in for a few night stay. (Swipe right to check out the superlative build quality on this).
A few new tubes, fuse holder, bias 🧢 and some servicing got this DR103 back to being its best. This thing is a complete beast with original partridge transformers. On the bench it was putting out 105W RMS before clipping!
Here’s a few details of mods to a reissue Marshall JTM45 head I finished up last week - really happy with how this turned out! (swipe through for more details and gratuitous rock riffage).
Mods include internally jumpering channels, pull boost on normal volume pot to add some shaping to V2 giving it a bit more of a plexi character to both channels, pre PI master volume and shifting negative feedback for a more open response. No extra holes drilled! Finished this off with a fresh set of glass and heading back to its owner.

This year has been patchy for taking on new work, with the books being mainly closed due to finishing off some bigger and lingering projects from 2023. That’s getting under control and I’ll be back at it for new work in April. 🎛️🔊✅🤝

Hey All, happy Friday! Come for a walk and quick repair chat with me discussing a recent fix for a Walrus Audio Julia which had been incorrectly powered.
Glasses are almost off for the year! Well, at least figuratively, as they’re kinda a full time thing in regard to vision :-)
I’ll be closing up the shop for a break and recoup from 3pm this arvi, returning mid-Jan.
Massive thank you to everyone who got some repaired, built or modded this year. I really appreciate it. It’s never lost to work on cool equipment for good people. Big shout out to Hot Dog Tom S, the couple days a week on the tools in here is an invaluable help.
