It’s been wonderful seeing a steady stream of friendly faces and hearing the building shake with music ever since. Naturally, people have been asking about the future of the studio, and what our plans are. We aren’t going anywhere. Electrical will be around for a while to come. We have many irons in the fire, and a calendar chock-full of great musicians, engineers, and yes, producers. Inevitably, there’ll be some minor changes as we adjust, but we’re going to keep this place running as an affordable, crazy-good option for people making records. Smooth as always. Last night, our captain, Steve Albini, died unexpectedly at the ripe young age of 61. We are struggling to comprehend and process this loss. Undoubtedly, there are many memories, tears, and stories to tell. Please tell them, and help keep his spirit alive. We thank you for all the lovely sentiments we’ve been receiving. Truly. Coinciding with the band’s 25th anniversary, Japanese instrumental rock band @monoofjapan releases the 12th album “OATH” on June 14, 2024 worldwide. The music video for the first single and the title track of the album “Oath” was collaborated with the EarthQuaker Devices video team, and was filmed during the recording session of the new album, recorded and mixed by one of the band’s longtime collaborators, Steve Albini, at Electrical Audio.
