Let’s make compost tea! We’re partnering with some amazing folks to research the potential benefits of compost tea on plants and long term soil health. This is how we make it! - Fill a 400 micron bag halfway with high quality compost (rich in microbes). - Give it a little massage to loosen up the microbes - Soak in non-chlorinated water. - Every 15 min or so, give it a gentle massage and work the water through the bag. - Repeat until you get the concentration you want. - Apply directly to plants as a drench or foliar feed! Happy composting! 🪱

We love milkweed and so do the insects! It’s amazing to see one plant host such a variety of species (even before the monarchs arrive). And they smell divine ✨ Remember, if something is not eating your garden, your garden is not a part of the ecosystem.

Tomato time! It’s a true challenge planting leggy tomatoes in the wind but we’re making it happen! 😅 Other folks call this trellising technique the “Florida Weave” but here in Switzerland County we call it the “Vevay Weavy”! 🍅 Tomatoes will be here before we know it!

Welp, our last lawnmower lasted 3 days. Let’s see how this DeWalt one holds up! We’re determined to find the right tool to manage living pathways this year.

We’re always trialing new ways to do things around here, and this year we’re experimenting with living pathways! Essentially this means we’re letting living things grow (even the “weeds”) in between beds. Having all of these living roots in the ground will feed microbes in the soil, help with water runoff, erosion, and compaction ✅✅✅ With all of the rain and unusually warm weather, our pathways are off to a running start, so we’ve enlisted the help of a small battery powered lawnmower. Stay tuned to see how she holds up to an Indiana summer 🌿 P.S. we are currently open for wholesale only. We will open up for retail sales (and farmers markets!) at the end of May ✌🏼We can’t wait to feed you!
