I am SO excited to get my Ian Anderson on and perform in a tribute to Jethro Tull this summer as part of the Summermusik festival. Prepping for this show has been a little different than the usual status quo for me, and I’m loving every minute of it. I already knew Jethro Tull was a great band, but I am learning SO much about the group and just how impressive they were and are, especially Ian Anderson’s showmanship. August and @summermusikcincy can’t come soon enough!

Happy Belated 90th Birthday to Michel Debost! Rarely a day goes by that I don’t think of the lessons I learned from him at Oberlin and from his wife Kathy (my first teacher) when I play the “simple” flute! 🎶
The best holiday gift this season was the opportunity to play The Nutcracker with @daytonphilharmonic …eight times! I’m sad it’s over and eagerly look forward to the next time I can perform this music again. 🩰🎄🕎
I may be a grinch when it comes to 🎄🎅🏻🎁, but nothing melts my icy holiday heart more than celebrating and showcasing a semester’s worth of hard work and musical progress with my students at @mycincinnati ❤️🔥
Last night I had the extreme honor of being inducted into the @uschoolalumni Hall of Fame. The event was an absolutely surreal trip down memory lane as I got to spend time and catch up with the wonderful teachers and administrators who shaped my life during my time at USchool from age 6-18. As I now enter my 10th year of teaching, I am deeply aware of what important examples they all set for me and how I draw from my memories in their classrooms every day in my own teaching at both @mycincinnati and @doityourselfdarlin .
Of course, my personal USchool MVP is Dave Walker, my band director from 3rd through 12th grade who created a home away from home for me in his band room. Drawing from his example, I strive to create that same warm, inviting, nurturing, and safe space for my own students every day.
And a million billion zillion special thanks to my BFFAE, Samantha Leibowitz Laney, who nominated me, inducted me, and made (makes) me feel so incredibly special and loved! (And who became a momma of a brand new beautiful daughter last week 🎉🥰🎉)
I fly back to Cincinnati tomorrow feeling uplifted, energized, and knowing I am famous because my face was on one hundred cookies. 😝
