It’s cutting day today and here’s a snippet of a #workinprogress - rushing to finish a Valentines Day outfit. Cutting takes up quite a bit of time and brain power especially when pattern matching is involved. Sometimes the cutting itself - which includes prepping the fabric, retracing the paper pattern, cutting out that out, strategizing the best way to orientate the fabric pattern - takes up more time than the actual sewing at the machine. But a good prep facilitates easier and more joyful sewing. Recommendation: use good quality cutting tools (@ldh_scissors is the star of this video), take breaks and eat a snack to re-energize. I can’t really watch tv when I am doing this but podcasts are work well to get over the tedious moments. On this sleeve alone, I sewed on about 1300 running #stitches and I tied at least 832 knots to bind securely. This #workinprogress💪 is taking much longer than I had anticipated. There’s a lot of simmering doubt and worry as I am doing this because I don’t really know if the end result would justify this amount of elbow grease. 😩 At the same time, I am brimming with excitement because I am 20 hours in and there’s maybe 4 more hours left of more #stitching and binding. The end is near. 😛 This took up all of my weekend #sewing and continues to fill up my brain cells. Most important while doing this repetitive movement is self-care and I need to keep reminding myself to take breaks.
