Less than one week until the opening of our Artist's Garden exhibit: "The Creative Mind of George Washington Carver." Most know George Washington Carver for his contributions to agricultural science through the development of hundreds of peanut products. However, he was also a gifted artist whose biggest inspiration was nature. The show will provide visitors insight about Carver’s artistic and scientific development and the gifts he shared with the world. Through interpretive panels, visitors will learn more about Carver’s fascination with the botanical and how it infused his work. Visits are free, and reservations are required: /visit/ #CreativeMind #GarfieldParkConservatory #GeorgeWashingtonCarver #ArtistsGardenShow #NatureInspiredArt

🎉✊ Happy Juneteenth! 🎉✊ At Garfield Park Conservatory Alliance, we're still buzzing with the energy and joy from our annual Juneteenth community picnic! 🌟 What a beautiful day it was, as we came together to honor African American culture and commemorate the profound significance of Juneteenth. 🎶🎨 From soulful music to captivating art, and engaging stationed activities, every moment was infused with the spirit of celebration and reflection. Juneteenth holds a special place in our hearts as we remember the historic day of June 19, 1865, when freedom finally arrived for enslaved black people in Galveston Bay, Texas. 🗓️✨ As 2,000 Union troops made the monumental announcement of emancipation, over 250,000 souls were set free by executive decree, marking the birth of Juneteenth. Thank you to all who joined us in this meaningful journey of remembrance and empowerment. Together, we continue to honor our past, celebrate our resilience, and pave the way for a brighter future. 💫 Let's carry the spirit of Juneteenth in our hearts today and every day. #Juneteenth #FreedomDay #CommunityPicnic #GarfieldParkConservatory #CelebratingCulture #ReflectionAndEmpowerment 🌿🎉

🌿🍅🥕 June is here, and it's time to celebrate the abundance of nature during Fruit and Vegetable Month! 🎉 We're proud to cultivate gardens that nourish our souls and feed our community. 🌱 Last year, we donated a whopping 1,405 lbs of fresh produce to our valued partners at Garfield Park Community Council and Breakthrough. We’re so excited for another season of bountiful harvest! 🍏🥦 From vibrant tomatoes to crisp carrots, each harvest embodies the spirit of generosity and sustainability. Together, we're cultivating not just gardens, but communities rooted in care and compassion💚🍓 Check out the Garfield Park Neighborhood Market Saturday, June 22 @ the hatchery! The Neighborhood Market happens every 2nd and 4th Saturdays through October. #FruitAndVegetableMonth #GivingGarden #CommunityHarvest #GarfieldParkConservatory #Sustainability #NourishAndServe

✨ As we bid farewell to a chapter of cherished memories, we extend our deepest gratitude to all who made "Meeting History: How Do I Tell My Story?" a resounding success! 📸🎨 The closing reception was a heartwarming culmination of creativity, community, and collaboration. Special thanks to the remarkable trio of Gina Jamison, Annette Britton, and Levette Haynes, whose intergenerational visual workshop added layers of depth and meaning to our Garfield Park Alliance meeting history. This workshop, an extension of our captivating exhibit "Meeting History: A Garfield Park Citizen Archive," has been a journey of storytelling and connection, thanks to the Catch Light Local visual desk, ProPublica, and the Institute for Nonprofit News. We're deeply grateful for the generous support from the Kresge Foundation, McCormick Foundation, and Photowings, which made this collaborative masterpiece possible. A heartfelt salute to our exhibit specialists and the incredible community members whose contributions breathed life into this exhibition. Your stories, your passion, and your presence have left an indelible mark on our hearts and in the halls of Garfield Park Conservatory. As we bid adieu to "Meeting History," let us carry forward the spirit of storytelling and unity, knowing that each narrative shared adds richness to the tapestry of our collective history. Until we meet again amidst the greenery, thank you for being part of this unforgettable journey. 🌟 #MeetingHistory #GarfieldParkAlliance #CommunityArt #Gratitude #Storytelling
