Dive into my first-ever half-marathon adventure at the Sugar Daddy Half Marathon in Valencia, California. Despite only catching four hours of sleep, I started my morning with a family send-off and headed out to conquer the course. The race unfolded on a beautiful day, with temperatures starting in the mid-60s and peaking at 85 degrees. The course was nicely flat, making for a scenic and enjoyable run, filled with both walkers and runners as the day warmed up. Feeling the fatigue at mile 9, I still managed to surpass my expectations, finishing the race with a pace of 11:27 per mile and a total time of 2 hours and 30 minutes. What will be my next challenge? Watch to find out how I fared and what’s on my horizon next! #sugardaddyhalfmarathon #running #halfmarathon

Keeping it at tempo pace today, I got up early and went out on a run. Running stress-free felt awesome! 🏃‍♂️✨ Total distance: 6.28 mi Avg Pace: 10:26/mi Moving time: 1:05:35 Elevation gain: 252 ft Tempo runs are great for building endurance and improving overall fitness. They help your body become more efficient at using oxygen, improve your lactate threshold, and increase your overall running speed. It’s a key part of any balanced running regimen. Here are some tips for a successful tempo run: 1️⃣ Warm-Up Properly: Start with a light jog or dynamic stretches to get your muscles ready. 2️⃣ Pace Yourself: Find a pace that’s challenging but sustainable. Tempo runs should feel comfortably hard. 3️⃣ Stay Relaxed: Focus on your breathing and form. Running stress-free makes a big difference in performance. 4️⃣ Benefits of Tempo Runs: They improve your lactate threshold, making it easier to sustain faster paces for longer periods. This helps build endurance and overall running speed. 5️⃣ Cool Down: Finish with a slow jog or walk to help your body recover. Running can be both enjoyable and effective. Come with me on an 8.6 mile long run! 🏃‍♀️ I ended up doing 10 miles because my workout ended a couple of miles away from home 😂 Runna's easy run program today started out with: - 3.1 miles at a comfortable pace - 3.1 miles at 11:30/mi - 1.2 miles at 11:15/mi - Finishing with 1.2 miles at 10:55/mi Here’s how it actually went: 1️⃣ 11:28 for the first split 2️⃣ 11:26 for the second 3️⃣ 11:15 for the third 4️⃣ 11:01 for the final I was a tad slower for the final run because of a gnarly hill, but I always enjoy easy long runs. 🏞️ Easy long runs are crucial for marathon training as they build endurance, improve aerobic capacity, and help your body adapt to longer distances without overexerting. They also enhance your mental toughness and help prevent injuries by promoting active recovery. Running is all about enjoying the journey and embracing the unexpected. Today we’re tackling a tempo run! 🎯🏃‍♀️ Here’s the plan: • 1st leg: 0.6 miles at 11:50 pace • 2nd leg: 0.6 miles at 11:30 pace • 3rd leg: 1.2 miles at 11:05 pace • 4th leg: 1.2 miles at 10:45 pace • 5th leg: 0.6 miles at 10:30 pace I’ve never done a tempo run before, and I’m excited to give this a go! Tempo runs, especially progressive ones, are fantastic for improving your speed and endurance by gradually increasing the pace. This helps your body adapt to faster speeds over time, boosting your overall running performance. 🏅 Here’s how it turned out: 1️⃣ 10:42 2️⃣ 11:27 3️⃣ 11:00 4️⃣ 10:46 5️⃣ 9:59 I thoroughly enjoyed this run! Mixing up the types of runs keeps my workouts engaging and challenging. Keep following for more running adventures and tips! #running #runners

Post-Race Recovery Struggles! 🏃‍♂️ Three days after my first half marathon, and I’m still sore despite all the stretching and massage gun sessions. But I’m committed to my training! With 16 weeks until the Long Beach half marathon, I started my recovery run with some dynamic stretching. The first mile was tough—stiff ankles and slow cadence. I dropped my pace to 13 min/mile, way below the Runna app’s suggestion. By mile 3, my legs started loosening up, and by mile 4, the pain dropped from a 7/10 to a 3/10. Recovery runs? Absolutely worth it! 💪 Thanks for joining me on this journey! Keep pushing, keep recovering! 💥 #halfmarathon #runna #running
