AAC 2022 Halloween Art Show
.
Happy Halloween Everyone! With a new Halloween show comes new exciting work. This year we had our largest amount of submissions at nearly 40 total! I am grateful to the amazingly talented artists that keep this show afloat.
This will be my last year running the show as I graduate in the spring of 2023. In preparation to keep the show running, I brought on a few artists that had an interest in taking on the show in following years to help install this year. Massive thank you to Will Morris, Grace Wojtylak, and Jay Maupins. You may be hearing from them next Halloween season.
As always, stay spooky!

My favorite artworks deal with older technology, such as tube TVs and VHS tapes, and marrying them with our current technology. It reminds me of how I was born at the dawn of a new age of technology and since then, it has all exponentially grown.

Huge thanks to @sarahokeefe23 from our Media Services dept. for accommodating my tall order to check out 4 projectors, 4 media players and 2 webcams for this show.
Thanks to all who attended the show
Thanks to all who bought a poster to fund the show
And one final thanks to all the friends and family who were there for me

This years Halloween Art Show was an amazing success. So much artwork it was literally flowing outside of the gallery! I can’t thank the artists enough, without them there literally wouldn’t be a show.
I learned a lot from last years show and with that knowledge it gave me the opportunity to one-up it. Ample planning allowed me time to make a bigger piece that I’m very proud of. Big shoutout to @whose.low for coding the facial tracking for the eyes. The real GOAT here is @mattcoors for helping me plan it and set a majority of it up, couldn’t have done it without him.

LOST AND FOUND
October 27 - 30, 2021
Artworks by the AAC Exhibition Studio Class

“This audio was recorded in a crowded area, reminiscent of Rit Premnath’s idea of occupying space”
.
This was my piece from “Lost and Found”, a group show from my Exhibition Studio class. We were tasked with creating a piece in response to @ritpremnath ‘s “Grave/Grove”, a show running concurrently at the CAC
.
The tape loops contained the sounds of a bustling street on a Friday evening. A specific street in an area where gentrification has been on the rise, leaving former inhabitants to live elsewhere, possibly on and around this said street. The bustling is mostly middle to upper class individuals stopping by for a couple hours and then leaving until the next Friday to repeat the process again.
.
The players were situated at the end of a hallway so the sound would guide you in. The players were placed on walls across from eachother; Standing in between them, you’d be immersed in the sound. They would continue to play non stopped over the course of this show’s 3 day showing. By the end of the show, the tapes had been deteriorated and disintegrated, making the audio of a bustling street unrecognizable. Depending on when it was viewed, you would hear a rendition of the bustling street unique to you and different from anyone that heard it before or after you.
