9- this is how we tracked the record. i’m pretty proud of this method— playing guitar and singing my g(u)ts out in real time, no clicks. after years of tracking differently i felt my burning heart was in these songs — the record is all original vocals (no overdubs besides harmonies and vocal doubles)🕯️🩵

🥀 “End of the World” 🥀 is out today via @ruinationrecordco and it’s the last single before my record releases May 10th! This is the first song on the album and it introduces the concept of a rose growing silently and becoming itself. 🦢
The rose finds its life cycle throughout the album and in the last song, a human interjects…

Today Jackie West shares “End of The World”, the latest single from her new album Close To The Mystery.
The otherworldly art song that opens the record, “End of The World”, finds its narrator living alone in someone else’s apartment in the emotionally shut-down aftermath of a relationship, looking out the window at the world outside. Over shimmering finger-picked guitar, orchestral swells—samples of bits of a string arrangement from a scrapped recording of the song—bubble up and fade like foiled promises of catharsis.
Close To The Mystery is out May 10 on RRco. Vinyl pre-orders are open and available!
