I fell in love with the shape of this dress as soon as I seen it on the pattern testers #EllaDress @silversaga.se I knew the bodice was definitely going to be to revealing for my 32F bust so I added 4 cm onto the pattern piece using @jenerates seam circles to add or subtract seam and hem allowances. (See pic) Because the neckline is gathered then bias added I thought/hoped it would work and it did! I finished the bias by hand sewing. I love everything about this dress. I say it again and again most of all how I felt wearing it. I know there was controversy for Jessica the designer when this pattern was realised over inclusion. I’ve sewn the biggest size drafted on the pattern 38-31-41 and I really have no idea on drafting and the work that goes into it. I wanted to support as behind every pattern a person had poured everything into making something beautiful and financially I understand (as being self employed myself) it’s not viable to jump straight in at the deep end. Due to the slight stretch it also feels so comfortable to wear. I think it will only get better wash after wash. I remember starting out with stretch fabric in my early sewing days. Best copy I love how this turned out. I definitely didn’t think I was going to be a #DoubleDenim girl. Out of my comfort zone as it’s sleeveless but I have been working on getting stronger for the last 3 months and it’s definitely given me more confidence to wear this. The gillet was the summer top at Etta Patterns. The pattern pieces were fab but instructions were very vague. Not totally impressed with my double welt pockets and I was going to redo them with a denim facing but my biggest fan and critique Leggylad thought it looked good with the colour of the lining showing through. Also looking at these pics I need to add the belt slightly higher for my waistline. Jeans are @bellalovespatterns I tested them and asked permission to show for our challenge prior the realise date. These instructions are spot on and I loved making them. These are the second pair. The only thing I would change is to add a curved waistband. Denim fabric @sewcialising Lining and buckle @fabricgodmother Bag @vinted from @anthropologieeu it’s so cute. WOW is all I can say about all your entries. It seamed quiet the last week or so and as an organiser you always get imposter syndrome. O my word we are blown away by the entries so many amazing ones you’ve definitely not made it easy for myself and Sharlene to choose 💯 Best Interpretation This is actually a two piece I tested the #pebblesdress @mykeepernz and despite trying to make the bodice work for my 32G boobies it wasn’t having it. I loved the shape of the skirt so I added the #TinkerTop 27 lines of shirring on full width fabric. My secret is to stitch down in the seam line and not tie off. Also a really good steam at the end to contract the fibres. It’s so satisfying to watch. Today’s our 18th wedding anniversary! 8 days after telling Leggylad I thought he was the one for me, we moved in together. It’s been a blast. Definitely through sickness and health we’ve stuck together and are really proud of our little blended family. I always wish I was sewing back then it would have been a jumpsuit definitely but each year I make something that makes me feel good. I can’t show to much of this dress I’m wearing as it’s still in the testing process @silversagapatterns but it felt so lovely wearing it last night. We are getting so much better being organised in our Emerald!
