Playing the Fruit Looops LP release show tonight at the Northside Tavern. Wasteland Jazz Ensemble will be myself and John Rich on horns, Alex York on MPC, Mike Hancock on electronics. Come hang!
Recent listening:
Christop Anders, Heiner Goebbels, Alfred Harth, Paul Lovens, Rolf Reim, Annemarie Roelofs - Probably the weirdest LP on Japo. Love this one.
Unrest Work & Play - For fans of post Henry Cow / Recommended scene. Love their records.
Stockholm 1969 - Great sound poetry record on Fylkingen Records featuring Henri Chopin, Bernard Heidsieck, Lars-Gunnar Bodin, etc.
Frank Lowe Orchestra - Lowe with some of the late 70’s NYC weirdos, John Zorn, Polly Bradfield, Eugene Chadbourne, Butch Morris, etc. Great line-up.
Gregor Curten & Anselm Rogmans - German drone record from ‘74. Rules
Don Cherry - Orient. One of my favorites of his, hard one to find, originally released in Japan in 1973. Han Bennink on drums. Wish I had an OG.
Jean-Jacques Birge, Francis Gorge, Shiroc - Next level French LP, sometimes free jazz, sometimes prog fusion, but mostly heavy on synth weirdness. Great!
Peter Brotzmann Trio - radio session from same trio on For Adolph’s Sax (Sven-Ake Johansson & Peter Kowald.) Single sided 10”. Great art. RIP. The best
Evan Parker, George Lewis, Barry Guy, & Paul Lytton. Great crew. Can’t beat the Parker, Guy, Lytton stuff.
Meltable Snaps It. Wonderful 80’s free improv weirdness from Michael Lytle, George Cartwright, David Moss, & crew
