june’s cookbook club dinner was ‘green fire’ by @francismallmann , and it was really incredibly good. we had smashed beets and their greens with garlic chips and homemade mayonnaise, cabbage steaks with chimichurri, grilled polenta slices, eggplant with cucumber, shallot, almond, and cilantro, and more. sweet potatoes directly on the coals. used both a @solostove cast iron griddle over wood fire and a @webergrills charcoal grill. always wanted to cook a bunch of @francismallmann recipes, so this was very fulfilling 🔥🥬🍆🍠

oh man, april cookbook club went beyond hard. we made food from the @winsonbrooklyn cookbook ‘win son presents: a taiwanese american cookbook,’ and it was all very special and delicious. we had whole roasted fish with garlic-ginger sauce, big chicken buns with fu ru mayo, black sesame noodles with mushrooms, red date cakes, mochi donuts, and much more. amazing dinner.

march cookbook club dinner went unbelievably hard. we did ‘israeli soul’ by @mikesolomonov , and it was widely agreed that it might have been our best dinner yet. personal highlights were the tahini dessert shake, homemade falafel, pita (made in an @oonihq volt), charred zucchini, and the rice pilaf with peas and pistachios, but truly everything cranked 🥙

for february cookbook club, we did the inevitable: julia child’s ’mastering the art of french cooking.’ there was coq au vin, ratatouille, dauphinoise potatoes, creamed spinach with eggs, and a basketball-sized sausage and bean cassoulet. many @lecreuset pieces were used. an incredible amount of french wine was consumed. i might be posting this from bed. au revoir 🇫🇷

for january cookbook club, we finally did the @lulacafe cookbook. as people who eat at the restaurant pretty regularly, it was so cool to try one legendary dish after another at home. everything was killer: walnut bolognese, chilled peanut noodles, sweet and sour cabbage soup, many salads. the carrot cake was cosmic 🍰

i knew that @ericwareheim ’s ‘foodheim’ was going to be our weirdest cookbook club dinner yet, and i was right. orange chicken that gave heavy @officialpandaexpress vibes, “naughty” meatballs, potato pizza, bread salad, cacio e pepe served in bowls made of parm and eaten like a taco (last photo). much @lasjaraswines consumed. perfect thanksgiving week book selection and crew 🍷

October was endless gratitude. i started off seeing two best friends get married, photographed chappell roan (selfie is me on the way to the show feeling very 16-year-old-me-would-be-proud), photographed my sweet friends, lovely engagement & elopement shoots, and surprisingly fact checked for the NYT for the first time. many dinner parties, glasses of wine, soup making, & nights out dancing. got to support my bestie into a brand new chapter in her life. cody and I celebrated our four year anniversary in endless gratitude that we have the worlds greatest community surrounding us. i cried a lot of happy tears this month. i have to believe that one small way to combat cruelty and injustice is to celebrate the life you are lucky enough to have. <3

@cellarette_ singing tunes last night with clean air for all ☁️☁️☁️☁️ [Image description: two polaroid photos stacked on top of each other, one of three people on stage (keys, singing, guitar), some masked, all bathed in blue light. Other is of a neon light in the shape of a cloud. Text reads: "11/1 cellarette clean air club" with the Clean Air Club logo in the bottom right.]

october cookbook club soared far beyond our greatest red sauce joint aspirations. we finally did ‘essentials of classic italian cooking’ by marcella hazan, and while AJ soprano would have been disappointed by the lack of ziti, it was still a truly excellent sunday supper 🇮🇹🍝
