For those of you who don’t know our story yet, our mom has a rare bone marrow cancer and we are desperately searching the world for a donor so she can receive the stem cell transplant that could save her life. The more people who can join the donor registry, the better chance she has of finding a match.
Our mom has always been such a light and source of joy and magic in our lives and in the lives of anyone lucky enough to know her. Help us find her match so we can keep her here—to tear up more dance floors, to hug more hugs, to meet more grandchildren, to go on more adventures, to spend more time with her best friend (our dad), to spread more joy.

oof this is a hard one to write. my mom is fighting to beat bone marrow cancer and we need your help to save her life.
my mom has a rare bone marrow cancer called myelofibrosis. she needs a blood stem cell transplant as soon as possible, and in order to do that we need to find her a donor who is a perfect match. all it takes is a cheek swab to see if it could be you.
my mom is the actual light of the sun manifested in human form. she has more energy and effort and love and creativity than should be possible for any one person to possess, let alone such an adorably tiny one. her main goal in life is to spread happiness, and she fulfills this every single day. she is our everything. she has so many more drawings to draw, people’s days to make, projects to dream up, cookies to bake, grandchildren to meet. please help us keep her here.
ways you can help:
1. head to the page in my bio to get a free swab kit sent to you. swab and return asap!
2. share this message far and wide! in most countries it is free and easy to register to become a bone marrow/blood stem cell donor. the more people around the world that register, the more lives will be saved. we have linked to some helpful resources on our page.

some other things worth noting:
- my mom is japanese and therefore has a better chance of matching with someone who is also japanese. if you know anyone with japanese blood, please pass this along! (that said, her perfect match could be anyone of any race, so ideally everyone under the sun gets on the registry!)
- AAPI folks (as well as other people of color) are underrepresented in the bone marrow registry so it can be MUCH harder for them to find a match. let’s fix this!

hi. how does one start a post?
i cannot for the life of me find a way to have a healthy relationship to this app. i had it deleted for months--this was super awesome--and then for no good reason i re-downloaded it and let myself fulllly give in to the additiction. it was so fun but also so bad for my mental health 🫠 jesse tried to make me delete it again a few days ago to which i responded "fine but im going to download it again when you leave! i like my addiction!" in the end i deleted it for a few days, but then genuinely missed the good parts of it, and for now i'm settling on: if i've exercised AND meditated that day, i've earned myself 10 min of controlled instagram browsing/interacting. so here it is. day 1! and a smattering of life things.

Northern California friends! I’m singing a few songs at the San Jose Obon Festival this weekend in honor of my amazing mom! We’ll also have a @bethematch booth set up on both Sat and Sun where folks can swab a cheek and register to join the bone marrow donor registry to help people like my mom find a life saving match. We haven’t found a match for my mom yet so we are still searching the globe for her hero ❤️
