I started this beat in Feb ‘23 in Taiwan on “vacation” in the midst of listening to my favorite jams from the early 00’s. Naturally a ton of Neptunes was in the rotation, but when Raveena told me she was imagining a live band behind rap feature for the second half, the musical director hat came on.
We initially were prepared to record the instrumental to send to Peggy, but he came through to the session at
@lucysmeatmarket where Tyler, Neelamjit, Jordan and I were jamming and tracked it right then and there. This was the first time I have made a record where a live band and rapper were tracked together and I hope it’s not the last! Thank you Raveena for bringing together this unexpected combo and Peggy for your insane artistry and trusting in our process.
