hey, hi, I NEED YOUR BAND! 👇🏼⬇️ One of the coolest things that has come about from the Mic1park community is the annual suicide prevention fundraiser each national suicide prevention month (September). This year - 2024 - will be the 3rd year already… In the first year (2022) we raised $700+ for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Last year (2023), we DOUBLED that with $1,500+ This year, I’m hoping for that trend to continue… SO, if you’re unfamiliar - how does it work? Just like a telethon, I’ll be interviewing 15-20 bands via Instagram Live all day on…. ‼️ SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 1ST ‼️ We’ll talk for 10-15 minutes each about mental health, share some personal stories, touch on the band/music, etc. Donations will be accepted the entire month of September. NOW, the question is…. Is this a topic close to home for your band & would you like to be a part of the suicide prevention fundraiser? In order to participate, you do NOT have to donate, you do not have to promote (unless you want to!)…we’ll simply work out a time frame that works best for 1, 2, or every member of the band. To be clear, this is entirely separate from the local show planned for September 10th in Milwaukee - that, we’ll be donating the proceeds to something closer to home here in the Midwest. The September 1st online fundraiser will go to @afspnational as has been the case from the start, and all donations can be made right through Instagram. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE FROM MILWAUKEE…or anywhere in the Midwest for that matter. Any local/indie rock bands in the United States can chime in. IF your band is interested…please comment below, DM me, or send an email by the end of July. One month. one last piece, as always: showing interest does not guarantee a spot. my first tour is over & holy bologna am I feeling the blues 🫶🏼 I’ll have a full blog to detail the days at some point but for now I must reiterate how fortunate I feel. My biggest takeaway is a refreshing look on life, particularly how *good* a lot of people are. The hospitality you receive from so many while on the road is so very cool - from places to stay to food cooked to venue contacts and sound people, the showgoers & other bands complimenting merch setups or to a father driving his son 2 hours to see Diet Lite play because he’s been a fan for years but needed an all ages venue…the list of things that warmed my heart over the last two+ weeks is endless. Also s/o once again @sammago for letting us take the van across America. I’m immensely proud of what I contributed to the band, if I must say so myself. So much work, sweat, blood (fell out the van)…and SO rewarding. I would do it all again tomorrow in a heartbeat… …but first I gotta drive back to Ohio tonight to pick up my dogs 😅 to all of you who came out to a show - and especially those who bought 57 t-shirts, 52 lighters, 19 CDs, 14 tapes, or 6 hats - thank you so so so so very much. we will meet again. ❤️ to max, evan, and kelson: I love you guys to death & getting emotional as I type this.
