Today New Noise is releasing For My Parents, the 6the album by @monoofjapan , the Japanese quartet who has followed their own muse, and in the process have become “one of the most distinctive bands of the 21st Century.” Originally released in 2012 For My Parents has grown into one of MONO’s most popular albums in China with the massively popular track “Dream Odyssey”. This release marks the first colored vinyl since 2012. MONO are an instrumental rock band whose melodies have grown increasingly lyrical, with increasingly transcendent execution. There is no doubting a MONO song when you hear it, and no denying their uncanny ability to feel perfectly at home in both pristine symphony halls and dirty rock clubs. In the way that only MONO can, For My Parents obliterates that divide, showcasing a sensitivity and maturity that simultaneously acknowledges where they came from, and where they’re going. The songwriting is sharper, the dynamics are subtler, and the production is stunning. For the recording, the band once again enlisted The Wordless Music Orchestra for support, and the collaboration has never sounded stronger. The unique combination of soul-stirring melodies, cinematic East-meets-West arrangements, and firm command of elusive emotional intangibles is what makes MONO so...well, so MONO.

🔥 Japanese instrumental rock band @monoofjapan ’s 12th album “OATH” is now released worldwide via @tempresltd . (North America), @pelagic_records (Europe) and New Noise (China), in celebration of the band’s 25th anniversary. The new album “OATH” was recorded and mixed by one of the band’s most important longtime partners, Steve Albini. Guitarist and composer of the band, Taka, comments: “We are proud to release our new album „OATH“. This album is the last original album with our beloved partner Steve Albini, with whom we have worked together for 22 years. A huge thank you to everyone who supports us.” In late 2024, MONO will also return to touring with a special setup to celebrate the band’s 25th anniversary. The anniversary tour will be like no other and will consist of strings and brass worldwide. While the band has had many orchestral shows in the past, the entirety of the tour consisting of an orchestra or an ensemble is a concept that has never been done before. The tour, namely “OATH” 25th Anniversary Orchestral Tour, is bound to be another monumental mark for the band’s history and is set to start in Europe in October.
