𝗦𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗞𝗟𝗠𝗔𝗠𝗜 is an experimental jazz project by 𝗔𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗮 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗼𝘀, a Chicago based multidisciplinary artist, featuring members of Resavoir (International Anthem).
DJ sets before, between, and after by King Hippo (International Anthem/ Lumpen Radio).
Out today is jaimie’s new record Fly or Die Fly or Die Fly or Die ((world war)) that I had the privilege of working on with her and the band last spring and summer. I’m grateful for all the time we got to spend together before she passed. jaimie was a huge inspiration for me and the projects we worked on together were some of the most creatively and personally fulfilling. From the day we met I was drawn in by her energy and she immediately trusted and respected me, making me rise to the moment and become a better engineer. Her trumpet playing was so inventive and expressive. It could make you cry or make you scared or fill you up with pure joy. And she sounds so bold and powerful on this new record.

Congrats to the brilliant Ben LaMar Gay on his new album out today via @intlanthem . It was an absolute pleasure and honor to record with him this past spring. It was not only special to watch his creative process up close, but it was also the first record almost entirely recorded and mixed (save some keyboard parts & samples Ben brought in) at the International Anthem Studio and Warehouse in Chicago. We meet every Sunday for almost 2 months, and due to covid safety, only brought in one musician at a time, popping up mics in the warehouse. I looked forward to those sessions every week. Ben is an incredible musician, composer, and communicator and one of the best hangs. Please check out this record and all his work and discover the true genius of BLG!

I had the opportunity to work closely with Rob on editing the record and it was such a rewarding and refreshing experience. Rob was constantly looking to be surprised by his own music and kept an open mind about pushing it in different directions. While the notes were composed, the form and arrangements were always open ended, changing throughout the process until the most exciting version emerged.
