SIMPLE IS STREAMING NOW! I sometimes get caught in small details and forget that this is a remarkable achievement! To have written this song, shared and arranged it with friends, performed it live, recorded it, and mixed it is a powerful journey! It feels like I’ve raised a wee baby and now I’m sending them off to the first day of school! How sad, how lovely! I’m grateful for the education this song has put me through and that, looking back at it from the other side, the core intention of the song is still vibrating out of every line. The friends on this track helped literally bring me back to music during a very anxious time. Maximiano Live at Anodyne 12/15/23 Available exclusively on Bandcamp! A year ago I was at a crossroads. I was moving through heavy emotions and was considering taking a break from music for a while. I had written a lot of songs to try to learn from my experience but I was filled with uncertainty. That all changed when I started playing with this band. The band documented on this record helped me make music in an entirely new way. The sheer talent, sensitivity, and openness of this group brought the songs a textured warmth that I fell in love with. It was as if they saw into my heart and were able to reflect the things they found in their playing! With the noise of the world quieted and only the necessities of the songs in front of us, we conjured small pieces of magic. Like all things, this group is flowing and impermanent and a few members have gone on to follow dreams and opportunities elsewhere, making this recording an important document of the first iteration of the “Maximiano” band! These musicians will always have a heart in me! Milwaukee friends! July 12th! @cactusclubmke ! Doors 7/Show at 7:30! $10 advance/$12 doors! This will be my last full band show of the summer, so cmon out to hear the full flute/clarinet/piano/guitars/bass/drums/harmonies experience! Last week I had the pleasure of mixing and doing some producing on @mistress.robinson ’s debut EP! “Indiana (Deluxe)” is the first offering from Jeremy Robinson, a fantastic songwriter and artist! If you love Adrianne Lenker and Buck Meek you will feel that love reflected in jeremy’s music, in its flow and feel. I happen to know that there is more music coming this year, so please give Mistress Robinson a listen and a follow :)

This Sunday!! I’m very excited to share the stage with @willowwatersmusic @margetmusic and, a jewel in the crown of Milwaukee music, @shellbellsmusic !! I’ve been a fan of Willow’s music for a while now and the fact that I’m sharing a stage with her is a sign that my career is moving in the right direction :) This’ll be my last show until mid-July and is shaping up to be an intimate affair. I’m going to bring some new songs to go along with the new emotions of this phase of life ❤️

This week my dear friend @old.pup released the new song “Spider Towns”. I sat under a tree and listened to it on repeat until it had sunk into my bones and made a cozy nest there. It’s a sonic landscape all of its own that could only be created by Will, it is a true expression of soul. “Simple” has been out for 12 days. After all this time writing, playing, and releasing it, my trust in the song remains. I trust that it is sincere, I trust that it is beautiful, I trust that it resonates other folks that live in this suffering world. I’m going to keep singing it wherever I go, especially out into the woods. The riff feels good in the trees, there’s just enough room in it for birdsong.
