Two notable burners featured here: ELKHORN are one of your best head units in existence these days: each release brings something *else* they're doing at a level waaaaay above cruising altitude. In trio mode here, with Jesse manning bass duties, sparring & soaring with drummer Ian, leaving Drew to absolutely nuke it on lead electric snarl. Best "psychedelic" record I've heard in a while. Pure launch, captures the live feel of the band, particularly when you're holding on for dear life while they blast away. COLD SUN's "Dark Shadows" still holds space on the "best contemporarily unreleased psych record of all time" list since it crawled out of the vaults in the '90s. This 1970 Austin peyote freakshow ticks every box, mercifully in print again from the folks at Guerssen... sounds great, excellent insert book, they - classic era "lost" psych records, that is - don't come any loamier than this one.
