March 29, 1918
Good Friday. “Good” Friday! Owing to a crisis in the war we are working through these holidays. Some firms are not. The world is still mad; still intoxicated with blood. Far from coming to reason it is getting more frenzied and the carnage increases. I don’t know which is the more terrible - to see men wallowing in blood and filth, or sanctimonious people with bowed heads in sacred places this day. May God take pity on the world.
