State Department officials are working hard to ensure Americans have passports for travel and immigrants applying for U.S. visas receive timely assistance. Last year we issued 24 million passports for Americans, with the highest percentage of U.S.-passport holders ever.
The mission of our Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources is simple: to serve our workforce and equip the Department with the necessary tools to successfully navigate the challenges of the 21st century.
While visiting U.S. Visa and Passport facilities in New Hampshire, Deputy Secretary Richard Verma (@depsecstatemr ) spoke with officials and saw first hand how our innovative teams are streamlining operations to satisfy the high demand for U.S. passports and visas.
Deputy Secretary Verma also joined a naturalization ceremony hosted by USCIS, celebrating new Americans as they begin the next chapter of their lives as U.S. citizens. He received the Outstanding Americans by Choice award from USCIS for his professional and civic commitment to serving our country.
Continuing on to Boston, Deputy Secretary Verma joined our partner @worldboston for a discussion on National Security and met with our regional Diplomat in Residence. The State Department partners with organizations like WorldBoston to build ties between local and global communities.
