@public__speaking kicks off the first night of @talklowfest with @clairerousay at @dsgn_cllctv on September 24. Brooklyn’s Public Speaking is the soulful electronic music of sound artist and songwriter Jason Anthony Harris. Live, he uses voice, found objects, radio, synth, and tape recorder, poring over pedals to loop, warp and augment these sources.

Very excited to announce @_kamaru_ as one of our featured artists at Talk Low. Joseph Kamaru, aka KMRU, is a Nairobi-born, Berlin-based sound artist whose work is grounded on the discourse of field recording, noise, and sound art. His work posits expanded listening cultures of sonic thoughts and sound practices, a proposition to consider and reflect on auditory cultures beyond the norms. He has earned international acclaim from his performances in far-flung locales such as the Barbican, Berlin Atonal, CTM festival, Dekmantel, Le Guess Who and Tramway. Additionally, his profound releases on labels like Editions Mego, Subtext, Seil Records, and his own imprint OFNOT. 2022 saw him supporting Big Thief in the UK/EU and touring with Fennesz in the US. He is a SHAPE artist, received an honorary mention at Prix Ars Electronica 2023 and has an MA in Sound Studies and Sonic Arts. Interested in attending? Early Bird tickets are available now. Kicking off the Talk Low lineup is Cincinnati-based saxophonist, multidisciplinary artist, and designer Ziaire Trinidad Sherman. @shermvn ’s artistry emanates from the rich tapestry of the black diaspora. By blending futuristic and historical sounds, he weaves narratives that not only capture attention but also invite others on an immersive journey. His distinct approach has led him to victories in beat battles, opportunities to tour across the USA, and leadership roles in international projects hosted at institutions such as the Fabrica Research Center, MIT Media Lab, and Documenta. Ziaire describes his work as a fusion that brings distant memories to the forefront, achieved through a dialogue between computer-based technology and the resilience of human willpower. @talklowfest is five days of experimental music in Cincinnati brought to you by @durhamstudio and @joincultorg with funding from @artswave and in partnership with @ponesinc .
