VERY thrilled to announce a last-minute July bill. If you’ve been following the us for a while, you’ll know that Faun Fables are among my most favorite live acts in the world - and thanks to some last minute tour routing, they’ll be returning this month to play Avalon for the third time. They are the duo of Dawn McCarthy (a vocalist who I first discovered from her beautiful collaborations with Bonnie “Prince” Billy) and multi-instrumentalist husband Nils Frykdahl (of the band Sleepytime Gorilla Museum). They often tour with their daughters - who hopefully will be joining them this time as well - and the show is an otherworldly family band experience of incredible magic and beauty. They’ll be playing some songs from their upcoming release on Drag City, their first in many years… Please don’t miss it.
This night came together rather perfectly around another band I’d been trying to schedule in July - DAYS aka @ethanphilbrick and @nedriseley …DAYS are another music + life duo who write cello-based chamber folk, and dwell in the realm of the mystical. They’ll be playing a set of songs from their new album, produced by Kyp Malone.
Opening up the night is a set by Hudson’s Widow ( @end_breed ) who make ritual sound / psych folk / noise

SATURDAY NIGHT double header… at 7:30PM, we’ve got a screening of Vexations by @mrswilliamhorsley - a film about a group of musicians who get vaporized during the CIA’s attempted weaponization of easy-listening music in the mid 20th century, and who then get reconstituted in modern day Greenpoint. That’s it, that’s the best I could do in one sentence. Then at 9:30. we have a drag show with the wonderful @veela.i.peculiar and friends
Lineup change for this coming Monday’s show! Xe had to drop off the bill, but in her place we are stoked to host Kingston’s @lodo___________ - a new psych rock quartet. @cookietonguemusic will be here from NOLA with a set of freak folk and surrealist puppetry.

Very cool show happening tomorrow (Thursday) night… Burlington’s @noahkesey plays ultra-dreamy, laid back shoegaze. The excellent @florrymusicband play a duo set, and @thelowliestonemusic open the eve
Tomorrow night, two local songwriters do the thing… Woodstock’s @malerie_day hits the stage at 7:30 with a set of ethereal folk, and @unicornkingston owner @francescahoffmanmusic sings to us at 8:30! The ac in the show room is working, promise 🐸
