Here’s a quick tip to play the Major Blues Scale!
Plugging into my new @voxamplification Superbeetle really made want to play the blues.
So I thought it would be fun to share a blues lesson played through this beautiful amp.
How to play the Major Blues Scale in 3 Steps:
1. Play the Major Pentatonic Scale in any key & any shape/box (I’m using the C Major Pentatonic Scale in the G Shape box).
2. Find the b3 of the key. In the key of C Major the b3 is Eb. This is the “Blue Note” of the key.
3. Play the Major Pentatonic Scale box again, but this time with the b3s added in. This is now your Major Blues Scale!
Have fun using this to improvise over your favorite blues tunes!

The first US VOX catalog from 1965 was a cool fold-out sheet packed with VOX guitars, amps, and of course organs. This product line was primarily manufactured in the US with specific amplifier designs for the US market (which is where the Super Beetle and Pathfinder come from), plus a mix of Italian and British-made guitars. Plus it featured endorsements from British legends like The Beatles, The Stones, The Shadows, and even some US garage bands like The Standells and Sir Douglas Quintet.
