First Installment of Wig Out Wednesdays! We had a good time last night setting the mood for @spectrum_record_lounge and broadcasting on @listentoblast CATCH IT AGAIN LAST WEDNESDAY OF NEXT MONTH Big love to @teedoteinsof & @ezweb2004 for coming out to the first one and making it an event! Incredibly grateful for the whole @spectrum_record_lounge staff!! @olde_belligerence & Travis have given me so many opportunities and shown me a stupid amount of support the past two years that I hadn’t experienced locally before. Couldn’t ask for a better group of people to spend my time with. They are truly here for musicians and put their all into reinvigorating & cultivating a scene for all genres. 💐💐💐💐 I began rapping at age 13 and it felt like there was no shot in Hell to make it out of Southeast MO just due to being in a smaller rural area with few resources. Nothing productive really started happening for me until age 25/26 post psych ward stay. Since then I’ve been able to travel and do shows in different states and continue building my network. Now people are asking me to come here to perform off the strengths of friendships and the music! There were many days over the years it felt like it was all for nothing. I’m finally feeling true fulfillment from all the hours I spent scribbling in notepads or hitting drums pads. It’s awesome to be in a position now where I can provide opportunities to others that I was never graced with when I was younger. Appreciate those around you! *UPDATED* April 24th 7-10 CST Via @listentoblast & LIVE from @spectrum_record_lounge With Special Guest appearances from @teedoteinsof (Menifee, CA) & @ezweb2004 (Festus, MO) ~ 2 years ago I started a pirate radio station in my living room thanks to @bigdomosupreme @enoobong.00 & @oshjoshw putting me on to a company called Blast Radio. Originally, I had two shows. “Collecting Dust” on which I would spin vinyl from my collection, & “Wig Weekly” which highlights upcoming underground hip hop musicians & their projects on a weekly basis. Along the way I connected with @m00d_music_ who sent me great sound bits to use as “commercials” and eventually started alternating mixes with me weekly. I’m happy to say now, after 153 streams & 166 hours on air, Wig Weekly finally has a venue to call home at @spectrum_record_ _lounge the last Wednesday of each month! Expect classics you love, sampled oldies, A lot of underground hip hop, R&B, & some indie rock sprinkled in. After this first night, an open aux will be available the first 15 mins for ANY musicians present that want to play a track or two of their own music. Past episodes I have been more of a “selector” of records, but for these live shows I’m busting out serato and the DJ decks to start a new journey. Wig Weekly Wednesdays 8PM CST (6 PST) Via @listentoblast Tonight is the first episode since traveling to LA! The trip was incredible and I’m happy to be back for a couple weeks before heading to Austin for SXSW. This episode is dedicated to @winorloserecords and all of the people & artists I met during the show in Compton. Before the trip I had been struggling to find inspiration but seeing everyone do their thing reminded me why I do it. I’m late on this due to traveling, but it’s an excellent pickup.
