Had a blast rippin’ bone w/ @bigstylebrassband at @parkrecevanston Starlight Concert Series last night. Huge crowd, always beautiful to see the people enjoying their green spaces. My dear friend @amandaexplores_parks does essential and exceptional work for the city of Evanston, greater Chicago, and parks advocacy in general. Lovely to see some of my best homies @anthonytdagostino and @mickymp21 . And had the pleasure of meeting a new fan in the last slide (📷 by @itsamyklink ), a future brass bander in the making. 💪✌️✊

@openbookschicago appreciation post, @deerydoe and I visit this shop every time we’re in Chicago. Much love to what they do for the community and their great selection and merch (Quinn approved). Also, last slide is the big bear we bought from IKEA as our final stop before hitting home. I love him. ❤️✨

This Mother’s Day was different. @pslmilwaukee lead a beautiful march in honor of Palestinian mothers home and abroad. Reminding us that this genocide has taken far too many lives and has destroyed far too many families. Speeches were so emotional, but through solidarity we became stronger together. Our hearts are with these incredible mothers always. 🇵🇸❤️‍🔥🕊️

Happy Mother’s Day to the women in my life who shaped who I am today. Without them I wouldn’t have the work ethic I have or the passion for the arts, humanities and music. Love you mom and gram. Xoxo

I am honored to be included in this list of distinguished faculty and staff at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee who have the utmost respect and support for our students making their voices heard like so many across the country, across the world. The undersigned faculty and staff have shown so much respect for their students to engage with this unique opportunity to find solidarity amongst likeminded peers who cannot stand to continue watching the relentless annihilation of a beautiful people and culture in Palestine. It is through collective organization that the people can rise up to meet the occasion. Over the last two weeks, I’ve met brilliant students, community members, and activists. All coming to the table with ideas for a better world. Within the liberated zone, on Falasteen Lawn, I’ve had the honor to share in ritual and food and conversation across religions, backgrounds, and situations, all with the unified goal to seek out peace and understanding. It is a beautiful sight to see. These students are achieving so much more than what it may seem through the lens of social media, the press, local news, etc. They complete assignments and take exams inside of the institution at large (UWM), then attend teach-ins offering a worldly curriculum rejecting the status quo inside of the Popular University on Falasteen Lawn, they keep one another safe on watch or by way of first aid, they cook for one another, read to one another, paint and draw together. They cry together and dance and sing together. I assure you, there is another way to conduct ourselves in this life. A way that breaks the chains holding each of us in place, divided. A way that instead brings us together under one tent as it has for 13 days straight on Falasteen Lawn. A way that is community focused, people powered, and gracious in its interactions. This is for our students, for Palestinians everywhere that have been killed and their families that are permanently hurt by this genocide, this is for all of us. The people united, will never be defeated.

Tikkun olam. Repair the world. Last night was the conclusion of Day 5 at Falasteen Lawn in the UWM Liberated Zone. And I was able to witness beautiful interactions between people of all faiths as Shabbat was observed, Challah shared, evening prayer took place, Yemeni tea was shared, and quiet hours began. There are families, children, elderly, students, and the community sharing traditions and stories. Local families and businesses are cooking dinner every night and sharing with all that pass through or stay. This is a place of peace, learning, creativity, solidarity, and joy. This is our way forward, together always. ✨🌙❤️‍🔥
